Rosalind Nashashibi at GRIMM
About the event
Coinciding with Frieze London, GRIMM presents Rosalind Nashashibi's first solo exhibition at the gallery's London location, following two major institutional shows by the artist this year – "Get Me A Stone" at Artium Museoa in Vitoria-Gasteiz, and "Stones" at KM21 in The Hague. For Nashashibi, the history of painting serves as a constant reflection on composition in relation to the historical moments in which her own work emerges, and the British-Palestinian artist turns, in this recent production, to her emotional and political engagement with the events in Palestine over the last two and a half years. In contrast to the brutality of the images witnessed during this period, she uses painting as an affective medium to situate herself within a shared history and experience, capturing intimate and everyday moments in a deeply personal way – also investigating collective history, power structures, and modes of coexistence.
