Parada pela Diversidade Sexual do Ceará
About This Event
Fortaleza’s Pride, the Parada pela Diversidade Sexual do Ceará, is one of the biggest in the Northeast. GRAB, the Grupo de Resistência Asa Branca, organizes it. They’ve been doing this since the early days of LGBT+ activism in the region, and they never let the party swallow the protest. In a state where homophobic and transphobic murders still make headlines, the speeches from the trucks carry as much weight as the bass.
It all happens on Avenida Beira-Mar, the seafront strip between Meireles and Mucuripe. The engine of the event is the trio elétrico—those massive sound trucks borrowed from carnival culture. DJs, local drag performers, and singers stand on top while a slow-moving crowd follows below. One truck stays parked as a stage for politicians and community leaders before the column rolls out in the early evening. There are no wristbands. No grandstands. It’s free and open. In the days leading up to the main event, GRAB runs a pré-parada filled with shows and debates.
The parade typically lands on a Sunday at the end of June, near the 28 June Pride anniversary. Dates are only confirmed weeks in advance. If you want to walk to the start, book a hotel along Beira-Mar or in Iracema early. They fill up. The weather in June is warm and humid, but not oppressive; the evening sea breeze helps. Expect road closures and diverted buses on the seafront from early afternoon.
The most recent edition, billed as the 25th, took place on Sunday, 28 June 2026. The theme was "25 anos combinando de não morrer" (25 years agreeing not to die). Diário do Nordeste counted ten trios elétricos. Mayor Evandro Leitão attended. More than 600 security agents were deployed. Organizers projected up to 1.5 million attendees, but no official count was published afterward. Treat that number as a hope, not a headcount. The 2027 date hadn’t been announced when we checked.
