Parada do Orgulho LGBT+ de Manaus
About This Event
Manaus has held a Parada do Orgulho every year since about 2001. The 2026 march was billed as the 26th edition, and the 19th was in 2019. It is a political march first. A Grupo Gay da Bahia survey quoted by A Crítica counted four killings of LGBTQIA+ people in Manaus in 2025, the highest rate per million inhabitants among the Brazilian metropolises it surveyed. Coordinator Thayza Olímpio told the paper that police records don't log homophobia as a separate category.
The venue has changed over the years. Earlier editions, including the 2019 one, were staged at the Sambódromo. In 2026 the Caminhada do Orgulho set off from Praça da Saudade (Praça 5 de Setembro) in the Centro. It ran along Rua Epaminondas, Avenida Constantino Nery and the Boulevard to a main stage on Avenida Airão. It was free, with singer Lia Clark headlining and local drag artists and DJs filling the afternoon.
The parade usually falls on a Sunday in late September. In Manaus that means highs in the low-to-mid 30s °C and strong sun, so arrive late in the afternoon and carry water.
The 2026 edition took place on Sunday 27 September 2026 under the theme 'A rua convoca, a urna confirma' (the street calls, the ballot confirms), tied to Brazil's October elections. A Crítica expected about 15,000 people. We couldn't find a count from after the event. The 2027 date hadn't been announced when we checked.
