About this place Casa do Meio Pousada

Casa do Meio Pousada is a gay-friendly guesthouse located in Boa Viagem, one of Recife's most popular residential and beach areas. As a pousada—a Brazilian-style small hotel or inn—it offers a more intimate lodging experience than a large resort, making it an inviting base for LGBTQ+ travelers exploring Pernambuco's vibrant capital city. Recife has a thriving gay scene, and staying in a welcoming, LGBTQ+-friendly venue means you can relax and be yourself throughout your visit. The Boa Viagem neighborhood is known for its beachfront location, local restaurants, and proximity to the city's social and cultural attractions. This setting provides easy access to both the beach and Recife's broader gay-friendly nightlife and entertainment options. Whether you're visiting for a few days or longer, a pousada like this provides a more personal atmosphere than larger hotels, often with helpful staff familiar with the local area. It's an ideal choice for solo travelers, couples, or small groups looking for an LGBTQ+-welcoming place to stay while discovering what Recife has to offer. The venue is situated at R. Dez de Julho, 399, in the heart of Boa Viagem.

Okay, so here's the thing. I was well received, I rented it for just a few hours, enough time to get to the airport. But if I were to stay a few days, there are some things I need to make clear: If you don't take cold showers, don't go, the bathroom I used upstairs was broken. The air conditioning was very noisy. The street was quite busy, I couldn't rest (I got a room facing the street). Shared bathroom. The garage only fits two cars (and you have to coordinate with the second person about getting in and out). Otherwise, for the few hours I spent there, it was okay.

I stayed at the Casa do Meio guesthouse for the second time, and honestly, it was only because I was persistent, as I had previously had a bad experience with a similar type of accommodation. Before arriving, I contacted them informing them that I would be staying from 9 am to 7 pm and asked if there would be any price adjustment, since this had been agreed upon the previous time. They simply didn't respond. Upon arrival, there was no one to receive me. They only confirmed the Pix payment and informed me which apartment it was. There is no support, security, or welcoming atmosphere. The room felt like a prison: the air conditioning didn't cool, the outlets didn't work properly for charging my cell phone, the pillows were dirty, and the environment seemed unhygienic. The shared bathroom, besides being dirty, gave a feeling of insecurity. The only positive point is the location, close to the airport. However, it's a bit far from the beach and, honestly, it doesn't compensate for the stress, the heat, the poor service, and the constant feeling of dirtiness and abandonment.

Well located, organized and clean rooms, working air conditioning, the guesthouse had a kitchen which makes a big difference, excellent service from the staff, nothing to complain about, and the price was also fair for what they offered.

Good and affordable, shared kitchen, rooms with 5 beds and bathroom, perfect for family stays 💖
