About This Event

The Santiago Pride March, or Marcha del Orgullo, brings about 100,000 people to the streets. It's Chile’s biggest LGBTQ+ event, and one of the largest in South America.

The march kicks off at Plaza Italia, which is Santiago’s go-to spot for any big public gathering or protest. From there, it heads south on Avenida Vicuña Mackenna, ending up at Parque O'Higgins. That route has been the march's path for years now.

Back in the 90s, after the Pinochet dictatorship, groups like Movilh started organizing these public LGBTQ+ events. Santiago Pride has just gotten bigger since then. These days, you'll see floats from community groups, activists, and even corporate sponsors. The vibe? It’s part party, part protest.

On a clear June or July day, the Andes Mountains loom in the background. It makes this Pride march look different from almost any other.

For visitors, Pride week in Santiago pulls together the whole gay scene. Bunker throws special events, bars in Bellavista and Barrio Italia have their own programming, and then, of course, there’s the march itself, the week’s big public moment.
