Quito Pride (Marcha del Orgullo)

Quito's Marcha del Orgullo, the Pride march of Ecuador's capital, takes place on the last Saturday of June along Avenida Amazonas. It's a protest before it's a party: recent years have put trans people front and center, with demands like job quotas for trans workers and proper investigations into the killings of trans women.

The day kicks off with a rights fair at the Plataforma Gubernamental Norte, then it's a parade down Amazonas with floats, collectives, and batucadas. In 2025, the march ended in La Mariscal, the city's nightlife district, with two stages. The next year, things got complicated: there were two separate marches on the same day - 'Orgullo Quito Oficial' went north from the Plataforma Gubernamental to Parque Bicentenario for a concert, while 'Orgullofff' started at Eloy Alfaro and Amazonas and headed south to La Mariscal.

Quito's at 2,850 metres, so don't underestimate the midday sun - drink water and pace yourself. Road closures are heavy: 56 in 2025.

The 2025 march drew over 15,000 people on 28 June, according to organizers. The 2026 edition was on 27 June, but we couldn't find a turnout figure. The 2027 date hadn't been announced when we checked.
