Rome's gay bars don't sit in one district. There's a short strip of terraces by the Colosseum, two late bars near Termini, a younger queer scene out in Pigneto, and the big nights happen in clubs on the edge of town. Plan on a taxi at least once a night.

Gay Street (Via di San Giovanni in Laterano)

The 300-metre stretch running east from the Colosseum is where most visitors start. It's for aperitivo and people-watching, not dancing.

    • Coming Out, no. 8: café by day and bar from late afternoon, open daily 08:00–02:00, with drag, bingo and DJ nights on its own calendar. Tourist-heavy; come for the street and the Colosseum view.
    • My Bar, no. 12: smaller and louder, with a tiny dance floor and street tables, open daily until about 02:00.

    Monti and Termini

    • 101 Roma, Via Panisperna 101: a small queer club-bar in Monti, open from 23:00 every night and busiest after midnight at weekends. Membership card and ID needed.
    • Company Roma, Piazza Manfredo Fanti 40: the bear bar, in a basement near Termini, Thursday to Sunday from 21:00. Karaoke, Furry Friday, House of Bears and Sunday's Bears Bar are on its October 2026 calendar. ARCO card.

    Pigneto

East of Termini, past the railway lines, Pigneto is where many younger queer Romans drink.

    • Malo Glitter Bar, Via Fanfulla da Lodi 3: drag, karaoke, disco nights and readings, Wednesday to Sunday 19:00–02:00.
    • Magnebevo, Via Macerata 3: a small queer-run bar and kitchen; a good first stop.
    • Largo Venue, Via Biordo Michelotti 2: a mainstream music club that hosts Latte Fresco, a queer Friday night with comedy and dancing.

    The big nights

    • Muccassassina at Qube, Via di Portonaccio 212: Rome's best-known gay party, on Fridays from 23:00 across a three-floor club. Its 37th season opened on 2 October 2026, and October nights were €20 with a drink. It's a taxi ride from the centre.
    • L'Alibi, Via di Monte Testaccio 40/44: the historic Testaccio club, back as an ARCO members' club on Fridays and Saturdays, and home of the GIAM Saturday party from October to April (GIAM moves to EUR Social Park in summer).
    • Frutta e Verdura, Via di Santa Passera 27: the after-hours, from when the clubs close into late morning at weekends; closed from July to mid-September.

    Closed or changed

Planet Roma no longer hosts GIAM. Bear Monday is listed as closed by Travel Gay, and Vicious Club, where some listings still put it, has closed too. misterb&b lists Garbo in Trastevere and Hangar on Via in Selci as closed. The Yellow Bar on Via Palestro is a hostel bar, not a gay bar. Testaccio isn't a gay district any more: L'Alibi is the one gay club there.

    Practical notes

    • Gay Street fills from about 22:00; the clubs fill after midnight.
    • The metro stops at about 23:30 (01:30 on Fridays and Saturdays). Roman taxis rarely stop when hailed: use a rank, a radio taxi or FreeNow/itTaxi.
    • Many clubs are private members' clubs. Carry photo ID; the card is issued at the door.
