Symphony Pride Night 2 features guest conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya and virtuoso flutist Jasmine Choi. Harth-Bedoya, former music director of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, opens the concert with Jimmy López’s Perú Negro, an exciting homage to Afro-Peruvian music that Harth-Bedoya commissioned from the acclaimed composer.
Jasmine Choi brings her luminous artistry to Carl Nielsen’s Concerto for Flute and Orchestra before the Columbus Symphony closes the evening with two beloved 20th-century works: Samuel Barber’s heart-rending Adagio for Strings and Edward Elgar’s Variations on an Original Theme, Op. 36, also known as the Enigma Variations.
