Pride Hamilton
About This Event
Pride Hamilton runs the Ontario steel city's summer Pride festival on the waterfront at Pier 4 Park. Hamilton has had Pride events since 1991, but the current organisation dates its first official festival to 2019 at Gage Park. That year protesters attacked the festival. An independent review later called the police response inadequate and made 38 recommendations, and relations between police and the community are still strained. After two online years and an indoor 2022 at the Hamilton Convention Centre, the festival moved outdoors to Pier 4.
Today it's a free waterfront festival rather than a parade. There's a main stage with drag and live music, more than 100 queer-owned vendors, food trucks and a family area. The organisers counted more than 14,000 attendees in 2025.
The 2026 festival ran under the theme "We Belong" on the weekend of 21 August. Listings disagree on whether the programme ended on the Saturday or carried on into Sunday. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked.
