About This Event
Capital Pride is Ottawa's Pride, a nine-day festival that fills the Canadian capital in late August — 22–30 August in 2026 — and it carries a certain political weight, happening as it does in the seat of federal government. The 2026 theme is "Together We Shine / Ensemble on rayonne," and the Grand Marshal is Olympic gold medallist Brianne Jenner; the year also ties into Ottawa's 200th anniversary.
The festival builds to the Pride Parade on Sunday 30 August at 1pm, which runs east along Wellington Street past Parliament, then south down Bank Street through Centretown, feeding straight into the Street Festival. That festival is the heart of the weekend: Bank Street closed to traffic, main stages at Snyder Plaza and Metcalfe Plaza, more than 200 marching groups and a bilingual line-up of performers. Watching the parade is free.
Around it there's the long-running Capital Pride Pageant at the National Arts Centre, a Pride run, drag showcases and dozens of community events across the week.

Practical Tips
The parade runs 1-4pm on Sunday Aug 30 through Centretown — stake out a spot along Bank Street early for the best view.
Most festival programming is free, but the Capital Pride Pageant at the National Arts Centre needs a ticket booked in advance.
