**(Update: Update: After my earlier review about inconsistent security and a frightening incident I experienced, I want to add that on a later return visit I did notice security staff present, and they appeared to be in the booth. That presence made the environment feel safer as I exited to head home. I appreciate the improvement.) Dear Steamworks Toronto Team, I hope you’re well. I’m writing as a long-time member and patron who has visited your establishment on and off over the years. I’ve generally had positive experiences and appreciate the space you provide for the community. I wanted to bring a concerning incident to your attention. On Sunday May 2nd 2026 around 12:00 a.m., as I exited the club, I was confronted by a group of approximately four or five young adults who began yelling homophobic remarks yelling and initiating violence. The situation felt very jarring and potentially dangerous. Thankfully, someone nearby intervened and chased them off. What concerned me further was that when I looked toward the security booth to the left of the entrance—where there is typically a staff presence—no one was there at the time. I understand this may relate to external security arrangements rather than internal operations, but I felt it was important to bring this to your attention. Given the current climate and the increase in anti-LGBTQ+ hostility, it’s essential that patrons feel safe not only inside the space but also when entering and exiting the premises. I would appreciate any consideration you can give to ensuring consistent security presence at the entrance, especially during late hours. Thank you for taking the time to read this message and for your continued work in supporting the community. Sincerely, Toronto patron.

This place is actually great. They offer free towel service and fresh water, which honestly feels like a premium touch since you don't always see that across Canada. The staff keeps everything quite clean and they're consistent with their rounds. The three dark rooms and the sauna are a nice setup, too. Just a heads-up for the holidays: the rates do go up and they switch to a ticket system for extra towels. Also, check-out can be a bit hit-or-miss. Most of the staff are fine, but one of the guys (blondish, white, glasses) can be a little short with you if you're waiting for your deposit back. It’s a bit of a bummer, but overall, it’s a solid spot. Aside that, it's a great experience.

Normally I have a good time here, this time was anything but fun. A guy tried to force himself on me. The prep pop in staff was helpful and kind about it. But when I told the older bald man with a beard wearing a bear shirt who was working the front desk about what happened he looked at me and just said “what can you do these things happen”. Terrible outlook on assault, it’s fine for you to say that when you weren’t the one who had some creep try to force himself on you. Steamworks please fire this guy
