Friends of Dorothy is an LGBTQ+ bar and lounge on Johnson Street in downtown Victoria, decorated around a Wizard of Oz theme. The programme mixes drag shows, karaoke and trivia nights, and it also serves food, including a weekend brunch. The cocktail list follows the theme. It is one of only a handful of queer venues in Victoria, so it draws a mixed crowd of locals, students and visitors. Johnson Street is in the old town near Market Square and Chinatown. Drag nights and brunch can fill up, so check the schedule and book when possible.

Editing to note that my review had been hidden. lol. Back in December of 2025, I came here with my partner and as we entered my partner asked staff if they were serving food. The staff told us their kitchen was closed which was no problem at all. However, later that evening while my partner was in the bathroom I watched this staff member along with another mock the way my partner spoke, specifically in reference to her question about if food was being served, with a “what, have you never been here before?” No, we actually never have been here before, and now will not return. I sat on leaving this review for months because I understand how challenging it can be for small businesses to operate and as a queer person I really try to support other queer spaces, but for it to still bother me to the point where I am writing this in May 2026 emphasizes how little tact the staff working that night displayed.
