Ocean Island Inn Backpackers Suites

Staff were hostile and made me feel unwelcome. Maybe this is standard for Victoria, but I would look for another hostel before coming here again.

If you are used to hostels this one is pretty standard although the pillows feel very used the rest of the building is super clean. Even the showers are very clean. It’s filled with people of all ages and nationalities. Really cute place! Would stay again!

I booked my stay at the Ocean Island Inn with regular expectations of a safe and comfortable hostel. To my pleasant surprise I was completely shocked with the level of hospitality and warmth of the staff. Not only are the dorms clean, comfortable and quiet as well as clean bathrooms but the lounge is colourful and lively. The free breakfast and dinner saved me a lot of money and let me make new friends! Yannick and Siara were nice enough to invite me out with them. Faren at the front desk was always there to answer any questions I had. Truly could not have asked for a better place to stay during my short trip to Victoria. Thank you OIN staff! I hope I can return someday :)

Outstanding location! Great for running routes and getting to where you want to be, either walking or by transit. Food is fantastic and the service is friendly and welcoming. I had a private room, and even though bathrooms are shared, there are enough on each floor that there is always one available.

Ocean Island has always gone beyond my expectations. Their hospitality, warmth, and just downright kindness has been shown time and time again. I’ve stayed here several times, and the staff never disappoints. Good people.
