Hotel Presidente - San Jose, Costa Rica

A beautiful hotel with a design that brightened our mood and made us feel very comfortable during our two-day trip to San Jose. The rooms are very inviting and comfortable. The staff are very friendly. Thank you very much.

Excellent hotel in a pretty central location. The location borders the good and bad areas of time, roughly speaking, but the hotel is well-sectioned off from the street, and once you’re inside, you really feel like you’re in a tranquil place. Friendly, helpful stuff. Good value. Definitely recommended.

Nice and clean hotel at a very good price! The service was also very good. We stayed here on our first and last nights in CR. It is very close to a lot of museums and other attractions, and while staying here we walked to see the Museo del Oro, Museo de Jade, and the Teatro Nacional. We also ate at the hotel’s restaurant Azotea, and the cocktails were very good! The food was also good - we got three appetizers plus the Tacos Ticos, and we’d recommend trying the latter in particular. The included breakfast was also great, and it has a nice dining room. Also FYI, parking is in-site. We were a bit confused about that at first, but you can just drive to the hotel and the valet will park your car in a holding lot across the street.

The area was super ghetto and did not feel safe. The hotel is worn out and it shows. Took them forever to check us in, we had a 10 hour drive and were exhausted with a small child and they at first couldn’t find our reservation ( I booked on hotels.com), they told us to go eat first. The restaurant wasn’t bad, even though we got curry rice and paid extra for chicken , it came with 4 bites of super small chicken and lots of cabbage and my husband was so mad, he was hungry and didn’t get any protein. Then after we ate our child fell asleep we went to front desk and had to wait more to check in, it was wayyyyyy too long and inconvenient. Our room was the nicer one we paid more, even though it wasn’t bad , the bed was horrible, uncomfortable, so are the pillows, cheap sheets that were squeaky. But the worst thing was their OLD OUTDATED AC! It was HOT, the temperature wouldn’t go down and we hardly slept. The breakfast buffet was wonderful and prob the best part of our stay, minus the horrible coffee, just like all over Costa Rica, ironically, the worst coffee we ever had was in one country that grows coffee.

Hotel Presidente was great and we truly enjoyed our stay. The staff is so friendly and helpful. We had the perfect room on the top floor which had a skylight in the shower. Everything is clean. We had a late flight the day we checked out and we asked if we could leave our suitcases at the hotel while visiting San Jose. They have a locked room just for that purpose. They were super accommodating. We highly recommend this hotel.

The location of this hotel is terrible. It's NOT in Otoya. It's in downtown San Jose in a sadly troubled neighborhood with a high number of homeless people. The hotel photos are very misleading. The room didn't even have a vanity kit, and the TV had no cable. The breakfast was quite basic. The staff was uninformed and rude.
