Nice little hidden guesthouse in a convenient, safe location, very friendly and helpful staff (shout out to Quétu and César). Secluded garden is a peaceful oasis where you can have your coffee or tea (included) and your own breakfast (not included) on your little deck, listening to the cascading fountain with turtles and koi. It’s perfect for guests not looking for an impersonal chain hotel, but rather, a place that feels more like you’re staying at a friend’s house. Decent price too.

Unfortunately disappointed, every four months I have to travel from Guanacaste to San José for university studies and to sleep from 10 pm to 7 am in a room with one large bed and one small bed (only because that's all they had). Initially, the room was for two adults and they offered it to me for 30,000 colones. At the last minute, I brought a child, and they charged me practically the same as a small room in this place, $40. I ended up paying 50,000 colones for a few hours for two adults and a 13-year-old girl. And it's completely false that they changed my room at the last minute, since from the beginning they assigned me the room, which had a price that included the extra bed. We figured if there was an extra bed, the girl could easily have used it, since we were already there, so two or three people could sleep there for the few hours we needed it (not even 10 hours). I wasn't going for the festival; I was going for academic reasons, traveling from Guanacaste. It was a long, tiring trip, and then I had to deal with this problem at that hour. The only reason I'm not staying with my family in Cartago is because of the distance, and my university is in San José, where I'll be presenting projects.

My wife and I rented a room. They assigned us one for three people. We brought a child, and for the same room, they charged us an extra $40. 50,000 colones for a little over six hours. That place was disappointing; I've been there before and the experience wasn't nearly as bad as this last time.

This place is a gem and a delight. I have traveled a lot in Central America and this is the best affordable city guest house/hostel/hotel I've been to. Incredible quality for value. I agree with other reviewers who said this feels like staying at a friend's house. The garden is gorgeous and so relaxing, a peaceful tropical oasis with birds singing and fish swimming in the ponds, even turtles sunning themselves. I mean, turtles. Yeah. Rooms are clean and comfortable with comfy beds, and there is a lot of common space with outdoor dining areas, BBQ, a big living room with TV, dining area, gym/workout space, and a full shared kitchen. Staff were incredibly kind and helpful about moving my reservation last minute, twice, and free of charge when there was a crazy snowstorm in the US that kept delaying my flights. Will be recommending this place to my friends and family as the #1 place to stay in San Jose.

Worst experience ever they screwed me and my brother in the beginning of December 2025 horrible money got scammed we called to reserve a parking spot we get there they say no we don’t have one as we paid for parking the lady said never mind we do have one. She didn’t know what she was doing didn’t help use or tell us there was a specific way to lock out we almost got locked out of the Airbnb some staff member saw us struggling and helped us in. Don’t go very unorganized

inexpensive, I used this place and location for my final night in San Jose before my next days flight. The rooms are dated, but for the cost you should not have high expectations. this is not a luxury resort spot, it serves its purpose, Maria and the other staff members were very helpful and accommodating. The Moose restaurant suggested by Maria was very good (small) used the place for breakfast, order the espresso, their regular coffee is on the weak side.

Very awful experience. Not sure if it was a bad night for the staff or what happened but it starts off with two days before my reservation was canceled. Call the Airbnb says it was a payment planned strange because I was not notified and I had no issue with all the other Airbnb‘s that I booked that week I contacted the location directly. They were able to rebook me if I pay them directly $150 for the night. While speaking to them directly, I asked if there was parking available. They said there was as seen in the text messages. When I got there I asked where the parking was she said I had no reservation, forcing me to park in the streets were they were charging 20 bucks since there was a big activity happening in the area that night worried about leaving it in the big city in the open was already a downfall. The lady had no idea what she was doing. I paid the guy get out of the car go in to check in for her to tell me THERE WAS PARKING. So I lost my $20 (€10,000) vanished. I moved the car into the parking spot to not leave it in the streets. She walks us over which is a block and half away from check in and common area she lead is into this room that’s in the middle of construction, didn’t tell us. It was just a room with a bathroom. Didn’t give us much information no Wi-Fi no nothing. Once we settle down and head out to our plans, we get home around 10pm to find out we got locked out, the lady did not notify to just lock our bedroom door and not the outside door which leads into the unconstructed kitchen thank goodness one of the workers saw us in distress and helped us get in. No kitchen so no fridge to keep our food cold after the night making it go bad Very bad experience felt ripped off

Our family of three stayed for two nights. The garden was beautiful, the environment was lovely, and our baby crawled around happily and safely on the floor. The staff and owner were very friendly. The room and beds were comfortable, clean, and tidy. The kitchen was spacious, and the dining area was very relaxing! We would definitely stay here again if we come back to Super Junior.

We stayed here a couple nights ago and it is a total bait and switch. The photos look nice but upon check in, they walk you into a building a block away which is essentially a converted garage port with scaffolding and construction across the facade of the entry. I’m not even exaggerating the whole thing feels like a newly converted stay in a garage - the bathroom window filters out into the garage so I’m like??? Is this even safe to breathe in car fumes like this? It feels quite sketchy, and the interior smells like mold. Because the bathroom window was open into the garage, there were mosquitos in the home. There’s no cutlery or anything. The shower is lukewarm at best… but they did provide soap. We wanted to leave but had an early flight and were too tired from traveling all day. The positive is the check in was easy and quick, with a nice property manager. No fault to them but this place needs lots more love. The strange part is before we even checked in they sent us a text asking for a review? After selling us on the “garden” it was a HUGE disappointment. The garden is a “communal” space one block away as if at night we’d want to hang out in a random building one block away lol If you’re directing guests to an entirely different building that’s under construction you need to do a better job managing expectations and reducing the fee accordingly.

I was very satisfied with this place and highly recommend it for its good price, good service, nice rooms, and proximity to the stadium. In my case, we stayed there for a concert, and it was the best option. I would definitely choose it again.
