Axel Hotel Telegrafo

Good hotel. The staff is excellent; it's a shame they charge so little. We had to leave very early, and breakfast wasn't open yet. They very kindly prepared something for us at 5:30 in the morning.

Booked one night as a last minute thing, given option of check in time on website but when arrived told check in is 4pm only & charge of $11.00 per hour if wanting to check in earlier. Hotel is LGBTQ+ friendly with large TV images of same sex couples in their underwear!! Yeah we get it, your LGBTQ+ friendly but this felt a little over kill! Asked for room with twin beds, room smelt damp & bathroom stank bad! Twin beds were incredibly unstable & wobbly! Apparently house keeping had just cleaned it!! They gave us another room with a double bed, we are friends hence wanting twin beds & although they offered us another room, we couldn't be bothered to move again & it was only for one night. Public toilets stank and this smell extended into the bar. No toilet paper or soap anywhere in the public bathrooms!! Rooftop bar was nice although windy when we stayed. Breakfast was pretty bland and dry & when we asked for more coffee, this was slow to come and exceptionally weak!! Seems like one cup per person is the limit!. The outside area was nice watching the main square. When we checked out we asked for our luggage to be placed in their store & a taxi cab to be ordered at 4pm. When we went to reception we were told the cab was outside & our luggage was in it, we checked and it wasn't in the cab!! They didn't know where it was & turned out to still be in our room! Dumb & dumber springs to mind! As this was a last minute stay for just one night it was tolerable but wouldn't want to stay again.

The cleaning staff took things from the room without permission, and the worst part is that that day they didn't even clean anything. They were trying on all the products I had and entered my room without permission. Between not cleaning or changing the towels—they left them dirty—and not cleaning or making the bed, it made me incredibly angry. What they took was meant for other guests, and they don't even have a chiropractor. They lie to you, saying there is one, and the massage therapist couldn't even make the money for my treatment because it was useless. On top of that, he lashed out at me in a very nasty way, right in front of his colleagues. I went there because I had met the manager and some very friendly staff, like the waiters and receptionists, but the cleaning staff—except for the girl named Dunei, who is Christian and was the one they sent and did a good job—but the rest...?! I'm never going back, and only because of their greed and how badly they treated me.

A very good hotel, 100% recommended. It's in a perfect location for exploring Havana, with the tourist bus stop right in front if you don't want to rent a car (the rental car companies are also located in front of the hotel). The rooms are superb and clean, and the staff is excellent, very attentive and willing to help if needed. The views are spectacular. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is eating at the hotel. If you've already paid for it, it's fine, but the food is limited. If you haven't paid for it, I don't recommend eating there. They charge you in dollars or euros, but if you have euros, the exchange rate is in dollars. Card payments are unreliable because sometimes there's no connection to process the transaction, and it's also expensive. For example, €32 for breakfast for two is expensive for a basic breakfast, as it's not a buffet. Otherwise, I highly recommend it.

!!! EXCELLENT OPTION!!! We came with high expectations after seeing the good reviews on Google, and it was better than expected... we stayed seven nights in October. POSITIVE... excellent location. The entire staff we interacted with was wonderful. Immaculate rooms, towels changed daily. Very comfortable bed. Bathroom equipped with shampoo, conditioner, hairdryer, etc. There were even two bathrobes, worthy of a five ☆☆☆☆☆... Rooftop pool (which we didn't use) but it was very nice. We had breakfast for three days, which was good but a bit limited. Without a doubt, on my next trip to Havana, Axel Telegrafo will be my favorite hotel. I recommend it 100%.

A great hotel in the heart of Old Havana, very comfortable, clean, and with a very friendly and professional staff. Public and private transportation are right outside the hotel. I highly recommend it.

It's a place with great potential, but the staff is a disaster. As a member of the community, I think they should train their Cuban staff to treat guests like me, who have been guests of Axel Barcelona and Axel Buenos Aires (which was a great hotel) and expect minimum European standards of hospitality. I demand training for the staff so they don't mistreat guests from the LGBTQ+ community, since they currently have: STAFF WITHOUT EDUCATION OR MINIMAL TRAINING TO PERFORM THE DUTIES ASSIGNED TO THEM. I'm never going back to this hotel again! In fact, I'm leaving early and going to the hotel across the street.

We looked at many hotels in the area, but this one is the best. It's one of the best hotels in the area and has a great location. The rooms are incredibly elegant and the service is spectacular. My stay here was amazing and I plan to return. The restaurant offers a wide variety of European cuisine.
