About this place Hotel Nacional de Cuba

Hotel Nacional de Cuba opened in 1930 and is still the best-known hotel in Havana. It stands on a rise in Vedado above the Malecón, and its garden terrace looks out over the sea. Facilities include two outdoor pools, three restaurants, three bars and live entertainment. This is a mainstream hotel that is listed here as gay-friendly. It is not a gay venue. Vedado is a practical base. La Rampa and Calle 23 are a few minutes' walk away, and that's where Havana's informal LGBTQ+ nightlife tends to gather. Rooms show their age in places, as the mixed reviews point out, so treat it as a stay with history behind it rather than a modern luxury hotel. Power and water cuts in Havana can affect any hotel.

The WiFi service is very poor; it practically feels like harassment to use it, or even just to charge devices. It's an expensive service, in fact.

Dirty hotel, hot rooms, advertised as a five-star hotel but it doesn't live up to the hype...

There are peacocks in the garden, walking back and forth.

Its charm lies in the intangible: the memories of historical figures, the gardens overlooking the sea, and that period atmosphere that few places retain. It's more of a symbol than a competitive accommodation.
