About this place Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa

Secrets Cap Cana is an adults-only all-inclusive resort on Juanillo Beach in Cap Cana, the gated development south of the main Punta Cana hotel strip. It belongs to Hyatt's Secrets brand, so meals, drinks, a spa and pools are part of the package, and the crowd is mostly couples. It is a mainstream resort listed as gay-friendly, not a gay resort. It holds a 4.6 Google rating. Punta Cana has almost no gay nightlife, so plan on resort life rather than going out. Same-sex couples generally report no issues at the big international resorts, but local attitudes outside them are more conservative.

Great place to get away. Food was good but would like to see local Dominican food. Great service the entire stay! I recommend an excursion like the Blue Hole.

Reinaldo was our concierge and he was awesome, making our honeymoon very enjoyable. Food was about what you'd expect for an all-inclusive resort. The pool is spectacular, and unfortunately the beach was basically unusable as the sargassum was so bad during our early June visit. Fantastic overall experience though!

I’m writing this on my final night so it’s fresh. I will say the hotel is not bad HOWEVER it has a lot of frustrating qualities. The room service takes an hour and a half to get to you, longer than any food delivery in NYC. The food here in general isn’t great. The buffet is half decent & the French restaurant is ok but a lot of the food has this prepackaged almost airport food quality to it. Everything gets overcooked and some of the food is just straight up weird, like the spongey scallops. The hotel is extremely loud and in our room we can hear shows and people yelling all night long. There’s an entire part of the hotel that’s restricted from people using it and you don’t know about it till you get here. A bunch of stuff was not usable and under construction like the sauna/steam room at the spa which you aren’t told about until you go there. The activities people (amstar) sell you on trips that say certain things and aren’t accurate. We were told a trip to saona island wouldn’t have seaweed(which the hotel’s beach is covered in), it would be a private beach and would take 7 hours and all these things turned out to be false. Trip took 11 hours(8am to 7pm), the beach wasn’t private & there was plenty of seaweed and also rocks. Good luck finding pool chairs after 10am. If you want to do an activity you have to sign up 15 minutes before it starts cuz it only fits about 15 people, same goes for restaurants you might wait 40 minutes or not even be able to go that night which seems not very relaxing to me. The positives here are the staff is extremely kind and helpful. Some of the food is good I guess, some of the shows are good…I guess. The massages were very good, the pool is comfortable and the drinks in general are good. The room was comfortable & clean just not quiet. Edited: Oh also the WiFi is horrible and went out a buncha times while we were there. Overall I wouldn’t come back to this hotel but some people might like it more than I do if drinking and sitting by the pool is your main priority. If you like to do anything active or want to actually have quality food I’d suggest elsewhere. I’m probably forgetting a bunch of other things but yeah overall just an OK spot. B-

We are currently staying at this resort and disappoint is the clonkt word I can think of. The beach isn't usable, smelly seaweed on the shore and in water, so it's brown. We haven't been able to find a seat by the pool, so we have to sit on the beach and hike up to the pool to swim. Food is cafeteria style, drinks are hit or miss. Either too much alcohol or none at all. Don't spend an entire week, 3 days is all you need here. We won't be back to any secrets.

A fantastic hotel if you're looking for a child-free, adults-only environment. I often bring a lot of clients.
