Mexico City Pride (Marcha del Orgullo LGBT)
About This Event
The Marcha del Orgullo LGBT+ in Mexico City is the biggest Pride in Latin America by most counts, and the oldest in the region still running: the first march took place in 1979. The city has had marriage equality since 2010 and its government now co-hosts the event, but the march is still organised by a citizens' committee and keeps a strong protest current, especially around trans killings and violence against LGBT+ people in the rest of Mexico.
The route is simple and enormous. Contingents gather at the Ángel de la Independencia on Paseo de la Reforma around midday, then march along Reforma, Avenida Juárez and Madero into the Zócalo, where a stage hosts the closing concert. It takes hours for the column to pass. Everything is free. Zona Rosa, a few blocks off Reforma, is the traditional party street, and the clubs in Roma and Condesa run ticketed after-parties well into Sunday.
The march falls on the last Saturday of June. Stay in Juárez, Roma or Condesa to walk to the start. Hotels along Reforma sell out, so book a few weeks ahead. It's the rainy season, which usually means a short, heavy afternoon downpour, so pack a poncho. Mexico City sits at 2,240 metres; drink water and go easy on mezcal the night before.
The 48th march took place on Saturday 27 June 2026 under the slogan "Ante los ojos del mundo: mi lucha es tu lucha. ¡Igualdad, paz y solidaridad!". The FIFA World Cup Fan Fest was occupying the Zócalo, and after negotiation the city guaranteed that marchers could still walk into the square. The city government counted about 550,000 participants, down from the 800,000 it reported in 2025. The 2027 date hadn't been announced when we checked.
