Hotel Zazz

I travel 80% of the time; all over the USA, and this is one of my favorite places to stay.

Really unfortunate to have been forced to witness what happens if you make a simple mistake and disrupt what appears to be a very fragile workflow. I guess that's just how it goes when a business allows what I'm sure is more than the fair share of bad guests ruin their faith in future interactions. Truly a tragedy in my eyes. Only stay here if you're going to keep your head down and agree to pay any extra fees without question.

I got in late last night driving the path less traveled from New Orleans,trip originating in Florida. The owner and the wonderful lady at the desk at night really made me feel safe and comfortable, plus allowed me to late check out. The room was just what I needed. The pressure in the shower was amazing. I love the tv home station where you get the history. This boutique hotel is definitely for the creatives and lovers of expression complete with a speakeasy!!! Mondays is vinyl night. There is a hydrate room where you can fill up. Centrally located on Route 66, you can feel the history!!! 10/10 I will be going back!!!

Stayed here for the first time on a work trip. The staff was super nice. The rooms are super cute, the vibe of the whole place is a lot of fun. And it’s in a great location to everything that I needed or wanted to do. Looking forward to staying here again.

We booked Hotel Zazz because we loved the concept and wanted to support a unique Route 66 property. Unfortunately, the reality didn't match the marketing. The hotel has a fun, colorful aesthetic, but much of the property appears worn and poorly maintained. The pool deck showed significant cracking, staining, and peeling surfaces. The outdoor game areas had debris scattered throughout and looked neglected rather than intentionally eclectic. Our room was the biggest disappointment. The baseboards and corners were visibly dirty, walls were scuffed and damaged, grout lines throughout the room appeared stained, and several surfaces looked like they had received quick cosmetic fixes instead of proper maintenance. The room didn't feel clean, which made it difficult to relax and enjoy our stay. What makes this especially frustrating is that the hotel has so much potential. The design, colors, and overall concept are genuinely fun and family-friendly. However, for the price we paid, the level of cleanliness and upkeep fell far below expectations. We wanted to love this place, but until maintenance and housekeeping improve significantly, we wouldn't choose to stay here again.

The location was walking distance to bars and dinner. Some parts of the room were dirty including the coffee maker & water bottle.

I wanted to love it, but chose to cancel our stay after checking in and never entering the hotel room. The hotel is like Route 66 meets Meow Wolf (which I love), but their hotel patrons do not take priority. This is the Zazzibar and speakeasy first with the hotel second. Let me explain. I directly booked our stay at Hotel Zazz for the final two nights of our 13 day roadtrip with thier website. I knew that parking was limited based on the information they provided both in their website and confirmation email. I called the morning of our reservation and spoke with David to double check that they had the parking reservation at booking and confirmed that I wanted to pay for parking. That was the first time that I heard about the 70s dress up event that would be taking place at 6PM. I didn't understand what he was explaining, but even if I did it was past the 48 hour cancelation policy. My husband and I arrived after a full day of driving from Page, AZ a little after 6PM to check in. We barely made it into the parking lot due to a food truck parked on the street a couple of feet from the driveway and all of the people heading to the pool party. There was music blaring and an armed gaurd with body armor posted at the entrance. This was a public event NOT listed on their calendar on Sunday, May 31st. We managed to navigate my husband's F150 into the lobby parking, so I could check in. The lobby was charming and Gabrielle was great. She let us know that our reservation gave us free access to the party that would be over at 8 PM. It was unexpected, but we decided to make the best of the situation. After looking for parking with only one spot available that the F150 might fit in (there were only 2 open spots) and not being able to navigate the people there for the party, we decided to go to dinner and wait out the party. When we finished eating at the Frontier we drove more of Route 66 because very little was open on a Sunday evening. We passed by the hotel 3 times looking to see if things were clearing up and only one more spot was available, but people were still everywhere in the parking lot. All we wanted to do was rest and relax in our hotel after a long day of driving. We understood better why there was an armed gaurd at the party as we explored the Route 66 just a couple of blocks further west. The community declines greatly and the numbers of homeless, drugs, and street workers were shocking. Hotel Zazz is part of revitalizing Nob Hill and thier community. We decided to cancel based on the lack of TIMELY communication about the event, the lack of consideration to their hotel guests who didn't want to attend the party, and not feeling safe to park on the street, which is monitored by cameras, but not guaranteed. The lack of communication continues as I have emailed management three times requesting a refund for the first night of our stay, since the event was not communicated on their calendar and we were not provided notice of the party to cancel within the 48 hour guidelines with NO response. It's been 5 days since our trip. I highly recommend the Pecos Trail Inn just south of Santa Fe if you're looking for a Route 66 hotel centered on being a hotel. The Pecos Inn was our favorite out of our whole adventure and it was filled with charm and we were even able to enjoy the pool. We could have just returned there after all of the time and money that was wasted at the Zazz.

I love the cheerful colors and little details. Conveniently located a short walk from many restaurants and a small grocery store. I’ve stayed many times and it’s always a treat.

The room looks like a poorly done flip, the gas station next-door was full of homeless people and looked not great. It was next to a bus stop also full of homeless people and they charged me $25 to park on top of that. I already paid for a room and the parking wasn’t great then they charged me extra ?

I’ve been hearing great things about Zazz since it opened, and after staying here, I can say that it definitely lives up to the hype. I overnighted here with a friend and enjoyed the fun contemporary-art-meets-midmod-architecture aesthetic, comfortable bed, and quirky amenities, including a giant outdoor chess set, hidden speakeasy-style lounge, and fun midcentury-inspired furniture around the pool. The Nob Hill location is very handy — we had our choice of Japanese, Irish, Colombian, Asian fusion, and several other dining options within easy walking distance, along with at least three or four coffeehouses and an assortment of interesting little shops. Route 66 travelers who enjoy Oklahoma City’s Classen Inn will undoubtedly find Hotel Zazz very much to their liking, as will anyone who enjoys midcentury architecture (Empress breezeblock and diamond-shaped shadowblock, anyone?) The evening we visited, a tarot card reader had set up shop in a back room at the bar and was offering free readings to hotel guests, which is easily the most unusual amenity I have ever been offered in my quarter-century of traveling Route 66. Zazz is a truly unique property and a fine addition to Central Avenue. My friend was also pleased with the hotel’s proximity to La Montanita grocery co-op, where she was able to pick up a few odds and ends she’d forgotten to pack.

Exciting stylish and clean motel. Right on the main drag. Associated secret bar is a treasure with AAA+ cocktails. We were lucky to be there on open mike comedy night and see talented comics! 4 star for service only because...no lobby coffee.

We had a room block for our wedding here and guests really enjoyed the unique vibes and the speakeasy. I love what this place provides for the neighborhood: it's probably the only hotel anywhere near our house (in Nob Hill) we'd consider having friends/family stay at, the speakeasy is nice, and they host fun events. However, I would never plan/host anything with them again. We lost the on-site planner they work with about one email in and never heard from her again, despite promoting. Trying to get any information from Sharmin (the owner) required several weeks of nudging for each new piece of information: if I texted or emailed, she would say we needed to call, but (understandably due to the industry) her hours are variable so we would play phone tag for days on end, and ultimately the answers to my questions absolutely could have been answered by text or email. Desk staff are unable to provide this info; though they tried their best it ultimately needed to be an upper management call to set the room block and we were told she would be in touch that day or the next for weeks on end. When we initially arranged the room block Sharmin mentioned it could be fun to host our welcome dinner there (it does sound like it would have been-the pool and speakeasy are super fun places) but after weeks of not responding, she ultimately said we couldn't host an event of the size without doing a buyout. Getting that answer wouldn't have been nearly as frustrating if it hasn't taken nearly two months to get there, and if I hadn't been so clear from the beginning that we WERE that big and were NOT going to be able to do a buyout. TLDR: stay here every time, but do NOT plan an event here
