What reviewers say

Visitors frequently praise the Copper Whale Inn's excellent downtown location and its charming, historic atmosphere. However, a common complaint is that the rooms can be small and noisy due to street noise or thin walls. Some guests also found the breakfast adequate but not exceptional, and one reviewer noted cleanliness concerns.

This is a cozy & comfortable B&B. The hosts are gracious and quite helpful. It is near the coastal trail and downtown amenities. The only thing missing from the plentiful self-service breakfast, initially, was coffee, which I had to make in my room. Beware: checkout time is 10am. Given how expensive Anchorage hotels are, the Copper Whale Inn was definitely worth it.

We had a wonderful stay at the Copper Whale, a perfect bolthole for our couple of days in Anchorage. Lorene was so helpful in arranging our stay and provided some great recommendations for our trip. A fantastic and homely spot.

The Copper Whale is a B&B with character. I came for a conference downtown, and this was the perfect place to stay to be in easy walking distance from everything I needed. When I compared notes with others at the conference who were staying elsewhere, I found I paid less and had some amenities they missed, such as free breakfast (with an impressive number of options), a bathtub, and a microwave in the room. I've stayed at bigger hotels downtown and far prefer the small, friendly feel of the Copper Whale and being able to talk with other guests at breakfast. I also appreciated the Alaska resident discount. I will definitely stay again.

Copper Whale Inn, We spent one night here and had a fantastic experience. The location couldn’t be better for visiting downtown Anchorage. Our room was large, clean, and very comfortable, and the property has a warm, charming feel. Breakfast was great, and the staff went above and beyond — they were friendly, quick to respond, and kindly let us stay late the next day so we could rest before our midnight flight. It made our trip so much easier. We would absolutely stay here again.

My favorite place to stay in Anchorage. A quirky little inn with so much heart and personality. Close to all the good stuff. The staff, (Lorene in particular) make it feel like family.

A cozy Inn at a convenient location. Wonderful communication, comfortable bedding, great water pressure and a tasty serve yourself breakfast like fruit, bagels, cereals and yogurt.
