Bon Paul & Sharky's Hostel

You will receive above average attention from this crew that obviously loves Asheville and the folks who pass through. The night before I had business nearby, I have stayed here at least a dozen times over the past four years. Way less expensive than a hotel in the area. There are two full bathrooms with a large stand up shower in each. There is also half bath downstairs off the kitchen. There's a refrigerator for you to keep your food and you have full kitchen access and they have enough things you might want to use to cook with, range, micro. Not sure if they have a grill, I've never wanted to grill something there 🤔 😅. I've only ever booked the dorm room at the top of the stairs to the left. It houses 6 with three bunk beds. There are lockers if you bring a lock for your stuff or you can just stow it beside the bed or under it. I never had anybody mess around with my stuff. I've seen a wide range of people from folks hiking the Appalachian trail to visitors just wanting to do the same as me, enjoy the area without having to pay an exorbitant price. There are other options I have never explored like private rooms inside and a girls only dorm, and there's a room out on the deck and there is a little camper and a little cabin. It's a very cute place and they keep the paint fresh with a cool mural on the outside. Lots of neat photographs in the stairwell. Lots of kitsch downstairs in the main area. A big picnic table for eating or whatever. Lots of places to plug in your devices. There is a porch out front. Restaurants and bars and the little grocery shop and a Shell gas station, all within walking distance. There's an Ingle's grocery store not far down the road and an Earth Fare natural grocery store very close. There's also a killer video game and pinball machine arcade.That is one price and it stays open until midnight. You can Donkey Kong, Asteroids, Space Invaders, and flip those flippers until your wrists fall off. The people are always very friendly and on many occasions I've had the opportunity to sample different international and ethnic cuisines simply because the folks were cooking food for themselves and had plenty to share. I have never had less than a stellar time. Highly recommended.

Camper was perfect for a cheap weekend stay. West Asheville actually has more nightlife than downtown??? (I wouldn’t have known this if I didn’t stay here)

Everyone is super nice and respectful of others sleep schedule, house is sooooo cool! Plenty to do nearby.

An absolutely amazing experience!! Such a cozy home with welcoming hosts! The surrounding area is very walkable with bars, food, a grocery store, and little shops close by. As a solo traveler, I felt extremely safe and comfortable the entire time! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would absolutely recommend this stay to anyone visiting the Asheville area!

Absolutely amazing experience. I far from a youth & arrived Monday battered & beaten by the storm of the day. I was overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers, the compassion and care the staff & residents showed to me. The eclectic property is immaculately maintained. Although my visit was unintended, if you intend to travel through Asheville, then I would strongly suggest that you stay here. I promise, you will not be disappointed!

This was my first experience with a hostel, and I was so pleasantly surprised with this place. Super clean, tons of charm, a whole kitchen, and really everything you could want out of a place to stay. I will only be staying here when I visit Asheville from now on!!

Bon Paul Sharky Hostel is simply phenomenal. The staff is great to just sit and talk to and are extremely knowledgeable about parks and events in area. I've stayed a lot of places but Bon Paul Sharky is hands down tops on my list. Oh and the location is perfect, so many shops and restaurants all within walking distance. I just love this Hostel and you will too!!!

This place felt like home away from home! We met Oscar was who was best and he really made the stay so much better. The whole place was clean and organized and had a great vibe to it. Very laid back and we met a lot of great people there. We hope to be back soon!
