This was our first stay at Hotel Alice, and overall we were very pleased with our choice. What we liked most: • The hotel is only about 845 feet from the Atlantic Beach across the street — exactly why we booked here. The beach itself was fantastic. There’s a well-marked pedestrian crossing with bright flashing lights and signals on both sides of the road. Cars generally stop promptly when the lights are activated, but we still recommend waiting to confirm they’ve fully stopped before crossing (the speed limit is 35 mph). • The location is ideal: quiet and peaceful, yet only a 12–15 minute drive to Morehead City. • Outstanding value. Our rate was literally half the price of the DoubleTree, and parking was free. • The staff were consistently friendly, helpful, and professional. Areas that could be improved: • The hotel does not yet have a permit to serve food, and the water desalination project (originally scheduled for completion on May 31, 2026) was still not finished as of our stay on June 9. Plan to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner off-site. • There is a $15 daily resort fee. This includes two drink tickets redeemable at the bar. We were initially told they were good for beer, cider, or water and successfully used ours for draft beers. However, we later saw another guest redeem one for a glass of Pinot Grigio, so the options may vary. On a positive note, the beach buggies (wagons) for hauling gear were a great amenity — we grabbed the last one available around 9 a.m. • The guest rooms were clean and comfortable, but the hallways could have used vacuuming. Overall, Hotel Alice is not a 5-star luxury property, so don’t arrive with that expectation. That said, for the money we paid, it offered excellent value. We’d happily stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a convenient, affordable beach getaway
I Very much enjoyed the stay here. My dogs loved it as well. Exceptional staff. Hotel is older but in good shape. It is across the street from beach but easy walk. Seriously you just cross the street. Very nice sandy beach and Very clean. Good parking and free. Think it's my new favorite get-a-way.
Love this place coming back soon
The rooms were fine. Clean, functional, and exactly what you'd expect. No complaints there. The real attraction is the mandatory $15 resort fee. For that bargain price, you're granted access to beach wagons and bicycles that may or may not actually be available because there aren't enough for all the guests. Nothing says "resort experience" quite like paying extra for amenities you don't want and can't use. The fee also includes one complimentary alcoholic beverage per day. If you don't drink, don't worry, they've thoughtfully provided an alternative: a bottle of water. Don’t you dare reach for that Fiji in their fridge, though. Let's not get carried away. You'll be enjoying an Aquafina or Pure Life, because apparently hydration has a tier system. Overall, the room was fine. The creative efforts to justify an extra $15 a day were far more memorable.
Love thos hotel. Looks nice, smells amazing, rooms are super clean+ dogs are allowed 👌
The staff was very friendly at arrival. The lobby was absolutely beautiful and smelled amazing….. Our issue came in when we entered our room. My husband went to use the bathroom and the toilet water was discolored as someone had already used it, when my husband used it wouldn’t flush. We went down to make them aware and they sent maintenance. Secondly the tub was DISGUSTING!! There was hair in the tub, mold and mildew. There was DOG HAIR all in the bathroom! The tissue roll had a few sheets left where I’m assuming it just was never replaced after the previous guest…The shower head is full of mildew and mold. The sink was visibly dirty and the water isn’t clear, it had the same discolor as the toilet water. So I guess it wasn’t previously used it’s just that the water is dirty…. When we let them know she said the most she can do is move our room however our friends are here and have the same mold and mildew issues in their room. Also there was another guest in the lobby complaining about the conditions of their room. So we let them know we will be checking out when my husband leaves for his fishing trip and not staying another night and would like a early check out refund being that we will not be occupying the room. The employee told me since I “booked through Expedia they’re responsible for my refund” HOWEVER no payment was made through Expedia. Payment was rendered at HOTEL ALICE during check in…. Which was 558.00 plus a 100.00 room deposit totaling 658.00. I attached a picture from the message sent from Expedia stating they’re not responsible for the refund because the payment was never made to them. My husband and I stepped out and when we walked back in the staff were in a huddle discussing the condition of our room, we overheard one of the female employees saying I had taken pictures. When we were spotted she was signaled and she stopped talking. We will never book here again and wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone! After reading other reviews I see that they’re known for using the excuse that Expedia has to refund you. I hope they figure this out and provide me with a refund. We can’t even brush or teeth or bathe here. This was a major inconvenience. We definitely have to cut our trip short. We were offered a cold drink out the lobby store for our inconvenience…… Lol! 😂 I really can’t make this up! This place is a joke!
