About This Event

aGLIFF, the Austin Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival, runs every September. It's one of the bigger LGBTQ+ film festivals in the southern U.S., showing features, shorts, documentaries, and animation from here and abroad. Filmmakers often turn up. Expect Q&A sessions, panel discussions, and community events around the screenings.

You'll catch films at Austin's indie and arthouse cinemas.

aGLIFF started in 1987. It's been a steady fixture in Austin's LGBTQ+ scene, even as the city went from just a state capital to a global tech and culture hub. September's a good time to visit. The worst of summer heat is gone, SXSW is a distant memory, and the city feels a bit calmer.

Practical Tips

Festival passes cover the whole slate and skip the ticket-by-ticket scramble — worth it if you plan to catch more than three screenings.

Q&A sessions with filmmakers happen right after most screenings — hang around instead of dashing to the next one.

Galaxy Theatres sits south of downtown — ride-share is easier than parking on festival nights.
