We chose this Park to see the eclipse… it is very beautiful, very pleasant, and very large. Inside, there is a zoo and a magnificent botanical garden.
Kinda tricky to get to the tower but after 3 attempts I finally found a way. It’s a great view of the city from where the tower sits. You sure should visit if you’re in the area.
Great place to take amazing pictures. Park felt lonely early in the morning, we only encountered one other person jogging around, took a walk along into the zoo were we spent the afternoon.
My husband and I explored Druid Hill Park for an hour or so this past weekend. The park is the third oldest established park in the US and Baltimore's fist large municipal park. The park has some running/walking trails, athletic fields, picnic tables/pavilions, and a disc golf course. The park also contains the Baltimore Zoo and the Howard P. Rawlings Conservatory and Botanic Gardens. The park is under a lot of construction; the walk around the lake is closed as part of that construction so you have to leave the park and re-enter it past the construction. However, it's a large park, and there's still plenty to do despite the construction. There weren't sidewalks along every stretch of road, so we ended up walking in the street a bit (especially in the north part of the park near Woodberry). I can see myself spending time here - especially running or walking along the reservoir/lake (even though you can't complete the loop right now due to the construction). But once the construction is complete, this could be a really wonderful park for walking, hiking, running, biking, exploring...!
First of all, best name for a park ever. Secondly, the Rawlings Conservatory is great. And I guess there is also a zoo there, though I don't really do zoos. I just want it to be more... I don't know. I don't want to say compact, because it's nice that it's big. I guess I want it to be more beautiful. The lake is under construction at the moment, that doesn't help. I feel like things are sort of far away from each other and it just doesn't live up to the romance of the name. Again, the conservatory is great, I reviewed that separately. My daughter and I also came across the Latrobe Pavilion, which sounds like it's about beer, but it's actually a yellow and red Asian looking structure that is great for photoshoots. We were there in the winter and there was no one else around but it's probably busier when it's warm.
A group of 20-30 year old guys stopped to wander around the park. Was a little tough to navigate. Seemed very large & weren’t sure of what was where. Maps were a tad difficult, so if you go plan out where you want to go. Was still nice to wander around and was a nice park. Disc golf was small but fun. Didn’t know the zoo was right here too.
Druid Hill Park is in the city but not downtown...located within the park is a conservatory and the popular Md Zoo in Baltimore...the zoo is one of the oldest in the country, but well worth a visit...in season a train will transport you...check out the elephants and big cats
Druid hill park is a huge park surrounding the lake reservoir. There is a zoo, pool, botanical gardens, conservatory, and sculptures. Lots of playgrounds, hiking and walking paths. We were drawn there to see the tree sculptures. One was a bit run down probably because children can't resist the temptation to climb in and on it. The Druid was adorable. We enjoyed a picnic lunch and a walk in the park
The Druid Hill Park is beautiful. Although it takes awhile to get through to the permits office, the staff was helpful. The workers who assist groups on the weekend were great and very accommodating. My family reunion committee team was able to coordinate everything from Philadelphia and our family enjoyed their visit to Baltimore, Maryland this weekend along with our stay at The Holiday Inn Baltimore -Inner Harbor Hotel. Please contact Mr. Melvin Hazer in sales and catering. His staff was outstanding!! We enjoyed the park and seeing deer. The grounds were manicured. Our team cleaned the pavilion and had it washed down and air blowed. The kids playground was right hear our pavilion which was a blessing. Thank you Baltimore City!!
We hit some unfortunately cold weather for our trip to Baltimore, but did enjoy getting out for some walks. We enjoyed walking by the pond and having the ducks follow us (expecting food).
