First the good. Location is great. Pool is really nice and has a resort feel. The food on site is quite good. The not so good. The handicap accessibility in this hotel is almost non existent. None of the doors are handicap accessible. Now for the room. Booked a king mobility accessibility tub/rm for a wheelchair user. After confirming at check in our room SURPRISE we were given a standard room. Lugged all our stuff back downstairs. The woman I assume was the manager told me they don’t even have this type of room (showed her my email confirmation). When I got upset and asked her to find us a room even if at another property she was very nonchalant. It escalated and I told her it was law to provide us the room we booked. She said I was threatening. Lol. Lady I just want the room I booked. As a handicapped individual it’s difficult enough traveling. They “found” us a room. While technically it was an Ada room a wheelchair did not fit through the bathroom door without multiple maneuvers. None of the furniture matched, kind of like leftovers all thrown in. A pink woman’s writing desk. Brown coffee bar. Navy blue chest. If you require an Ada room the embassy suites is a better option.
Great overall experience we are already planning our next stay
Couldn't have had a worse stay. Checked in with our baby at 11:30pm with our baby after a missed flight only to find extensive mold in our bathroom at midnight. Spoke to management the next day who promised to comp the whole night and move us rooms, which was the only reason we didn't cancel the rest of our stay and move to an airBnB. Next room also had extensive moisture issues in the bathroom with bubbling ceiling drywall / paint and dripping water, but we just dealt with it. When we went to check out, management had "no notes" of comping our first mold-ridden room (of course) and only waived a $20 "resort fee." No quality and safety control, and no accountability. My aunt's room had a flooded floor and ceiling that an engineer had to look at (& said he "hadn't seen it this bad before")and they wouldn't even comp her for it. DO NOT STAY here if you care about your health and getting your money's worth.
We stayed one night and had high hopes because of the other reviews. Our room was humid when we arrived but otherwise fine. When we woke up in the morning, there were puddles of water on the floor and our ceiling was actively dripping water, including onto the bed. Between this and the now extreme humidity of our room, our belongings were damp. We called the front desk and they said they would send someone…but no one came. Checking out at the front desk we received an apology and we were assured the manager would follow up with us about our experience. They did not.
Very nice hotel. It’s amazing to have such a nice room, great pool area with pool bar and indoor bar as well at such an affordable price. We didn’t try the restaurant but nice to have the option in the hotel. Great location so close to downtown Charleston. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again.
