The Garage Brewery

The Garage Brewery is a laid-back microbrewery in Chesapeake's Greenbrier area, just off Eden Way North near Greenbrier Mall, and it has become one of the few reliably LGBTQ+-welcoming gathering spots in a city that has no dedicated gay bar. The taproom pours a rotating lineup of house-brewed drafts and keeps a steady calendar of community events. During Pride season it hosts "Brewed with Pride," a celebration built around a drag show and special Pride beer releases, and every other month it holds "Read the Rainbow," an LGBTQ+ silent book club. The brewery is also a stop on the Hampton Roads Pride Brew Tour, tying it into the wider regional Pride network centered in nearby Norfolk. The space itself is easygoing: an outdoor patio, a mezzanine that can be booked for private gatherings, and rotating food trucks in place of a full kitchen. Recurring nights such as Music Bingo (first and third Thursdays) round out a relaxed, all-are-welcome vibe.
