Thompson Chicago, at 21 East Bellevue Place, is a contemporary hotel that knows how to do sophisticated comfort. It’s got a classic style, calm interiors, and a vibe that makes you feel at ease, whether you’re there for work or just getting away.
The hotel makes a point of being welcoming to LGBTQ+ travelers, which is a big deal in a city that, for all its flash, still feels pretty midwestern. Chicago’s gay hotels generally go beyond the usual upscale amenities to create a genuinely safe and inclusive environment. It's nice to have a home base that actively welcomes the community, not just tolerates it.
East Bellevue Place is a pretty swanky address, and from there you can get to downtown Chicago and all its major attractions without much fuss. For details on rooms and what’s currently on offer, you’ll want to check their website: thompsonhotels.com/hotels/thompson-chicago.
If you're in Chicago for Pride, a business trip, or just to poke around the neighborhoods and see a show, this place gives you a comfortable, attentive spot to crash.

This was the most perfect trip with my family. The bed's super comfy! Sleeping like a baby every night! As it is a holiday, the area is significantly livelier than usual, necessitating advance preparations for travel arrangements. No doubt !! The hotel service is always awesome!!
The staff, hotel amenities , rooms and the view was Amazing 👏
We chose the Thompson Chicago to celebrate our anniversary and it exceeded every expectation — we couldn't have picked a more perfect property. From the moment we arrived, the staff set the tone for the entire stay. Every single person we encountered was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. Our lake view king room was absolutely stunning. Waking up to those views made every morning feel like a special occasion! The location is unbeatable. Oak Street Beach is right there, the shopping along Michigan Avenue is steps away, and the number of incredible restaurants nearby. We also really appreciated how convenient and accessible the parking options were. We are so grateful we chose the Thompson for our anniversary. We will absolutely be back! 🥂
As always, an excellent hotel chain
I don't like revealing how much I like this hotel but it is terrific. The location is amazing, the view is lovely, the rooms are quiet and incredibly clean with a large bathroom, easy light fixtures and the staff is very accomodating. As an expert on hyatt properties this is my preferred place to stay in Chicago.
We booked The Thompson for our room blocks for our April 2026 wedding, and all of our guests loved staying there. The location is perfect. It's nestled in the Gold Coast on the north side of the city and is in the perfect location. A short walk from the iconic Chicago lakefront and Michigan Avenue, The Thompson is on the corner of Rush and Bellevue, making it just steps away from some of the best Chicago bars and restaurants. All of our guests loved the hustle and bustle of the city surroundings. It is also super convenient to have Tavern on Rush in the lobby of the hotel, so you are never far away from a good meal. All of our wedding guests loved the accommodations, especially the rainfall shower. It felt like a luxurious getaway for a few days. The staff was also super helpful, especially the front door staff, as we were constantly coming in and out and loading up our cars for our wedding. If you are looking for a Chicago hotel, especially room blocks for your wedding, book at The Thompson.
A unique hotel that has a very upbeat vibe. The bar that's on the ground floor is the most active of any I've seen. It's 11pm and it's hopping. The rooms are clean. The service is very accommodating.
