This is a beautiful property situated in a great location. The rooms were clean, do bartenders were friendly on the second floor, nice gym but the attitudes of the two a.m. workers, Jennifer and Alexandria, are horrible. If you make a request come, it seems as if it's coming out of their pockets, for instance, switching out an iron. I made three attempts to speak with the DM, also left a VM but no one returned my call. Shout out to Val, the overnight guest service rep.
Clean rooms, Great service. HARD BEDS. No view.
We loved the location near UD/ Oakwood and the nostalgia of The Arcade but there seemed to be some staffing issues. The rooms were clean and it was nice having a refrigerator and microwave. The room was nicely updated. The staff that was here has been very friendly but considering the place didnt seem to be very full, they missed our room from cleaning day 1. We had to request towels 3 times. The worst part was the parking situation. They only offered street side parking or Valet at $29 a day plus recommended $7 tip and a convenience charge. We got back twice and the 4-5 valet spots were full and we were instructed to drive around the block until they could get some cars parked. It was also slow to have the car brought around because they didn't seem to have the staff to manage Valet .
We just had our wedding downtown Dayton and used HGI as our main hotel block and we also used one of their double queen suites to get ready in. The valet parking was easy, the rooms were super clean and nicely updated, and the building itself is so stunning it made for an incredibly beautiful backdrop for many of our photos. The only disappointment was some of the staff and service we received. For the most part our experience with the hotel block manager was positive. At the end of the planning process it was mentioned that they may try to open the bar an hour earlier than usual so that our guests could enjoy a cocktail or two before our rehearsal, but that never happened after multiple follow-ups. There was one person on staff during the actual wedding day that I have heard from multiple guests was very unfriendly and even avoidant. We at one point asked for extra towels in the room and when they brought up the extra towels you could just tell they were angry or frustrated… very visibly not friendly. Aside from those interactions, we had a generally positive experience, and are very happy we chose to have our photos at this location.
