Highlands Detroit

Went for the burger and beer Monday special for $19. The burger is a smash burger twin patty with a dill sauce that strangely seems reminiscent for a big Mac. It's for grilled onions, pickles, cheese, that dill sauce, all on a bun. It's served with a copper cup filled with piping hot fries and a cup of ketchup. The beer is on tap, Michigan beers. You sit in the bar - looking out at the Detroit River way up in the sky. Nice views, nice place.

The food was just ok…main course did not have any flavor at all, which were the halibut and the filet. There are many amazing restaurants in Detroit that are much better and more economical, so we were disappointed in the restaurant and overall experience.

I had such a great experience at Highland Restaurant. The food really went above and beyond what I expected—each dish felt like a pleasant surprise in the best way. The staff took excellent care of us and even made sure we had a great seat with a nice view. Service was attentive, friendly, and made the whole visit feel special. Overall, it’s a place I’d definitely recommend if you want great food, great service, and a beautiful setting.

Truly an incredible experience. The service was great. I had a sensational experience tasting each dish. The wagyu ribeye satisfied my palate like no other.

Byron used to be the only server I wanted to work with whenever I visited Highlands, not because of anything negative about anyone else, but because his attention to detail and care for the customer stood out every single time. Seeing his work recognized now in a manager position was truly heartwarming. Too often, quality people get overlooked, so watching someone like Byron move into a leadership role felt special. Although he wasn’t my server this time, just knowing he was in the driver’s seat that night made me feel completely at ease. And this menu is nothing to play with. Every visit, I try to stretch myself a little, because staying in the box and ordering the same familiar things would keep me from experiencing the true magic of dining at this level. I could list everything I’ve ordered, but honestly, it’s all good. Seriously. I still haven’t met Chef McClain somehow it always slips my mind after taking in the food, the service, and those incredible views, but I look forward to that moment. My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary at HIGHLANDS and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptional. The atmosphere, stunning views, incredible food, and attention to detail made our special evening perfect. A very special thank you to our server, Virginzl Efiori. From the moment we stepped into the elevator, we knew Highlands was going to be something special. What followed was not just dinner it was a truly elevated experience that combined breathtaking views, impeccable service, and exceptional cuisine. Perched high above the city, the panoramic views of the Detroit skyline and river were absolutely stunning. Watching the ever-changing clouds roll across the horizon while the city stretched out below created a backdrop unlike any other dining experience in Detroit. Every glance out the window felt worthy of a photograph. The service was impeccable from beginning to end. Every member of the team was welcoming, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to creating a memorable evening. From the moment we arrived until the final course was served, every detail was executed flawlessly. We began with the Wagyu Beef Tartare, and it was outstanding. The tartare was incredibly fresh, beautifully seasoned, and so succulent it practically melted in your mouth. Each bite showcased the richness and quality of the wagyu while remaining delicate and balanced. It was one of those dishes that immediately makes you realize you’re in for something extraordinary. For my first course, I selected the Beet Salad, which was as beautiful as it was delicious. The earthy sweetness of the beets paired perfectly with the creamy elements and fresh greens, creating a dish that was both vibrant and refreshing. My second course was the Veal Agnolotti, which was pure perfection. The pasta was delicate and expertly prepared, with a rich, flavorful filling that was elevated by a beautifully balanced sauce. It was comforting yet refined a standout dish in every way. For the main course, I enjoyed the Wagyu Bavette, and it was phenomenal. Perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and packed with rich flavor, every bite was exceptional. The accompaniments complemented the beef beautifully, allowing the quality of the wagyu to truly shine. To finish, I indulged in the Limoncello Cake, which was the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal. Light, bright, and refreshing, it provided just the right amount of sweetness while showcasing vibrant citrus flavors. Highlands is more than a restaurant it’s a complete dining experience. Between the breathtaking views, world-class cuisine, and flawless service, every aspect of the evening exceeded expectations. Whether you’re celebrating a milestone, planning a special date night, or simply looking for one of the best dining experiences Detroit has to offer, Highlands delivers on every level.
