About this place The Pavilion

The Pavilion is the main dance club on the Fire Island Pines harbor and the traditional home of High Tea, the afternoon dance party that follows Low Tea across the deck at the Blue Whale. Perched at the heart of the Pines waterfront, it has anchored the island's dance-music scene for decades and, under Tryst Hospitality's recent stewardship, headlines the Pines' weekend party calendar with DJs and events through the summer season. Like everything in the Pines it is strictly seasonal, busiest from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Surprised how nice yet crowded. As predicted, tide for low tea comes in around 6 and leaves at 8. Old people schedule but for the very young. Look for blond bartender, lovely southern.

The bartender swore up and down he sold me a double vodka mixer at tea. It didn't even taste like a single. "You only need one drink," he said. All to the tune of $60. Can you say ripoff? No wonder the crowd at tea is light.
