Pines Party Fire Island

The Pines Party on Fire Island Pines is one of those legendary American gay gatherings. It's a Labor Day Weekend fixture, on a barrier island off Long Island, and it's been a peak summer event since the 1970s.

Fire Island Pines itself is car-free, a beach community that's been a sanctuary for generations of New York's gay residents. The Pines Party pushes that summer feeling to its limit, with a tea dance at the Blue Whale, a harbor party, and the Morning Party, which, true to its name, goes on until the next day.
