A little pricey and it was a great experience
Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Food is very good. Wings and Friday Fish Fry is great.
Great place
Clean, comfortable cabins, though microwave and fridge would be nice. Convenient location for access to the Arizona Trail. Good restaurant although sometimes understaffed. Would definitely stay there again.
Our camping plans fell through and decided to stay here since it was graduation weekend and no where else was open that wasn’t $300+. Ended up being cuter than expected! Plus we always bring our dog and accepted pets for a low fee. The cabins have two rooms each with a little walk up porch to sit on. Ours was right by the office and didn’t have to walk far at all. The location itself is nestled in the woods and felt like we were half camping. The restaurant was fun, they had live music so we sat outside since it was too loud :) great service, but we got a little neglected due to being outside but server was super kind. Only issue with the room - we couldn’t figure out how to turn on the lamps, and the shower was literally trickling out of the shower head. Thank goodness I didn’t need to wash my hair. For an overnight stay after an exhausting day, it was great. Not great for long term unless you bring a cooler and an extra food. The office cat was very sweet
This place seemed like a nice idea but is in desperate need of a remodel. I’d compare it to a rough hotel in Mexico honestly. Outside of building are in rough shape, Bathroom had visible heavy water damage, toilet was not clean nor was the seat. The fireplace is the only heat source, which sounds fun until you realize that the thermostat that controls it beeps every time it turns on or off, which is all night because the air gap around the door is so big that it’s like having a window partially open. If you think about it though you’ll need that air gap though because the fireplace has no combustion air intake for it. Oh and the fact that theres no small fridge or micro is a huge let down, first hotel I’ve come across in many years without those 2 things. The free breakfast in the office is just a frozen jimmy deans breakfast sandwich, or some pastries that are not worth eating. I’d say get this place renovated and it’ll really shine due to location until then it’ll continue to deteriorate away.
We have been eating at basecamp for the past 4 years and know the staff very well. However our last few visits have been very disappointing. Pricing has been going up over the last year and the portions have been getting smaller and smaller. Depending on who you get as a server, it can either be great or terrible, no in between. Our visit last night will probably be the last as service was really bad and the food just isn’t great anymore. It’s a real shame because this was our weekly Friday night spot. Not sure who is making the menu decision, but they’re not appealing to the locals anymore.
