About this place Site of Mary's (Naturally)

Mary's (Naturally) was Houston's oldest gay bar, operating on Westheimer Road from 1968 until its closure in 2009, and for decades it was a cornerstone of Montrose life and LGBTQ political organizing. The building was famous for the outdoor murals painted by Scott Swoveland in the 1990s. Though the bar is gone and the address now houses other businesses, the site remains a landmark in the city's queer history and a reminder of Montrose's roots as the heart of gay Houston.
