Indianapolis has a gay bar scene. It's not Nashville or Chicago, but for the Midwest, it's got solid options—from long-running dance clubs to neighborhood spots. These are spread across downtown and surrounding areas.

Dance Clubs

    • Gregs Indy (downtown) has a big dance floor, several bars, and drag shows. They do themed nights, including karaoke and Latin events. It's one of the main dance spots in the city.
    • Talbott Street has been around for over 30 years. It has a large dance floor, multiple bars, and a stage for live acts, drag shows, and themed parties. It's an Indianapolis institution.

    Bars & Mixed Venues

    • Metro Nightclub and Restaurant (Mass Ave Arts District) has a dining area that feels a bit fancier, plus a separate dance floor. They put on drag shows and live music. Good for dinner and a night out.
    • English Ivy's (Broad Ripple) has both indoor space and an outdoor patio. You'll find drag shows and live entertainment in this bohemian neighborhood.
    • Zonie's Closet (Fountain Square) is cozy and relaxed, with karaoke, trivia, and themed parties. This is your classic neighborhood bar option.
    • Olly's (Fountain Square) sits in historic Fountain Square, serving craft beers, and has an outdoor patio.
    • The Ten (downtown) does craft cocktails, American comfort food, and drag brunches.

    Leather & Alternative

    • 501 Eagle is a leather/Levi bar. It's got a dark interior, pool tables, and regular events.

Broad Ripple

North of downtown, the Broad Ripple neighborhood is bohemian. It has a bunch of gay-friendly bars, restaurants, and venues. English Ivy's and The Unicorn Club (karaoke, drag shows, outdoor patio) are both here. It feels different from downtown—more neighborhood pub than city club.

Indianapolis Pride

Indiana Black Pride and Indianapolis Pride both happen in June. The main Pride march and festival bring in tens of thousands. The city also hosts GenCon (August), the world's biggest gaming convention, which has a growing LGBTQ+ presence.
