About this place DC Trans Coalition

DC Trans Coalition is an advocacy organization for Washington, DC’s transgender and gender-nonconforming community. This group champions the rights and well-being of trans people across the city, especially those facing challenges related to race, class, disability, immigration status, or economic hardship. Visiting Washington and want to connect with the local trans community or learn about advocacy here? This organization's a good place to start. It’s not a social venue, but it's an institutional resource that shows a city's commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion. The organization helps people find support services, determine their gender identity in a safe space, and deal with poverty and criminalization. You can find out more about their work and how to get involved on their website.

The Center advertised a career workshop for LGBT individuals focused on job search support, résumé and cover letter review. It sounded like a meaningful resource for the community. Instead, it was a complete failure in basic professionalism. My husband stood outside for 30 minutes only to be told the event was cancelled. There was no email, no phone call, no notice, no signage, and no apology. Nothing. If you are going to position yourself as a resource for vulnerable job seekers, the bare minimum is communication and accountability. Failing to notify attendees of a cancellation shows a complete disregard for people’s time and trust. Do not rely on this organization if you need dependable support. The lack of responsibility speaks volumes.
