LA Black Pride
About This Event
LA Black Pride grew out of At The Beach. In 1988 a group of Black gay friends who felt shut out of both Black and mainstream gay spaces held a small gathering on a Malibu beach. Today the main event is a one-day beach party at Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades, usually in late June or early July. The 39th edition took place on Saturday 27 June 2026. It was hosted by the nonprofit Pride and Promote under the theme “Housing with Pride”, which focused on housing insecurity among LGBTQ+ youth. An LA County Board of Supervisors motion expected more than 5,000 guests and called it one of the longest-running African American LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations in the country. Turnout has dropped in recent years, partly because many Black Angelenos have moved further inland. The 2027 date hadn't been announced when we checked.
