About This Event
LA Pride is produced by Christopher Street West, the group that staged the first permitted gay pride parade anywhere, on Hollywood Boulevard in June 1970. For decades the parade ran in West Hollywood. In 2022 CSW moved it back to Hollywood, and West Hollywood now runs its own WeHo Pride on a separate weekend, usually early June. If you've seen photos of crowds on Santa Monica Boulevard, that is WeHo Pride or the old LA Pride, not today's event.
How it works: the parade is on a Sunday in mid-June, free, and starts at 11:00. In 2026 it began at Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue, went north to Hollywood Boulevard, east to Cahuenga, and back south to Sunset, with more than 130 contingents. ABC7 broadcasts it live. A free Pride Village runs along Hollywood Boulevard during and after the parade. Through the month CSW adds smaller ticketed and free events around the city; in 2026 that included a skate party and an outdoor screening at the Autry Museum.
Practical: take the Metro B Line to Hollywood/Highland or Hollywood/Vine. Driving and parking in Hollywood on parade day is miserable. The Walk of Fame stretch has little shade and June sun is strong by midday, so sunscreen and water matter. The bars and clubs that make up gay LA nightlife are mostly in West Hollywood, a short ride west, so many people watch the parade and then head to WeHo.
On numbers: CBS LA once reported about 400,000 people at the old West Hollywood parade, but that figure belongs to a different route and era. We couldn't find any crowd estimate for the Hollywood parade, so we've left attendance blank.
The 2026 edition, the 56th parade, was on Sunday 14 June under the theme Rise with Pride. Grand marshals were actor Jeff Hiller, transgender rights pioneer Mia Yamamoto, and the late Skid Row advocate Shirley Raines, honoured posthumously. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked.
