About this place Phoenix Bar

The Phoenix is a gay bar on Elysian Fields Avenue in the Faubourg Marigny, known for decades as New Orleans' leather and bear bar. The crowd is mostly men, the look is denim and leather, and the room is a neighbourhood dive rather than a show bar. The New Orleans Eagle operates upstairs in the same building. It rates 4.3 on Google from about 280 reviews. The Marigny is the area just downriver from the French Quarter; the bars of lower Bourbon Street are a short walk away, but take a taxi late at night. Check the bar's site for leather nights and dress-code events, which get busiest around Southern Decadence on Labor Day weekend.

Love the Phoenix. Been visiting since the 80s. Ignore the suspect negative reviewers who scour businesses online, give them negative reviews...to destroy them. And they come in all shapes, genders, and shades. Protect your safe spaces from rabble-rousers who live to divide. Cheers!

Seems that if you're not a regular customer you don't receive as good a service when ordering drinks. Bartenders can be a bit rude if they don't know you, but people were friendly. All in all it was a good experience.
