One of the gems of Kingston, I greatly recommend every one in town make a visit to this community center! Explore your sexuality and gender identity in the stocking library, or just come for a pastime, or make time for a social event.

I went there with a girlfriend of mine who had to drop off some books and I took the liberty to explore and speak to people. I was amazed how many activities there were, how extensive their library is, and how they had a full professional kitchen in there. I met the executive director, volunteer librarian and volunteer receptionist and I was impressed how genuine they are. I felt the love inside the building and in their neighborhood. They have a transgender closet that was chock full of beautiful clothes. They have many very large meeting spaces. When visiting Kingston, you owe it to yourself to pay them a visit!

i had one of the worst experiences with one of the staff members here. richard heyl de ortiz is one of the worst people i have ever had the displeasure of speaking to. aside from being rude regarding specific conversation topics i won’t get into due to personal reasons, he was also very ableist and expressed discomfort towards my stimming. once learning that i have stims and show them externally, i was told to “stop making people uncomfortable” for a place that’s supposed to be loving, and accepting of everyone, this place really showed me its true colors. i used to come here when i was younger and it was fantastic, but now its like nobody cares. and a safe space is no longer a safe space. one of my good friends recently was even discriminated because they’re black. do not go here for the love of god, find somewhere else. y’all need new staff, and need to learn how to treat people looking for a safe space better.
