This rental was, without exaggeration, one of the worst lodging experiences we have ever had. The listing marketed the space as “very clean,” yet we walked into an unlocked door, a home that had not been cleaned after the previous guest, and a bathroom that was downright unsanitary. Used towels were on the floor, roach traps were tucked inside cabinets, and the space carried a stale odor that made the “clean” claim feel almost intentionally misleading. The host’s response made matters worse. Instead of sending a professional cleaner, he sent his mother who arrived visibly ill, without proper cleaning supplies, and clearly unprepared. Even after her attempt to tidy up, surfaces remained unwiped, grime was still visible, and an oil spill covered the TV remotes and welcome booklet. We ended up re-cleaning large portions of the rental ourselves just to make it livable. Unfortunately, the problems extended well beyond cleanliness: The internet was completely unusable despite the router showing a strong signal. The toilet had a “sanitized” seal on it, yet was still dirty underneath. The water heater failed, and my boyfriend had to help troubleshoot and fix it because the host offered no real assistance. A later shower revealed even more disturbing details: pubic hair, used toiletries, and shower walls that had clearly not been touched between guests. The bed sloped to one side because the tiny home itself wasn’t level, making sleep uncomfortable and at times impossible. When we attempted to cancel the final two nights of our stay, the unreliable internet prevented us from doing so in time before Airbnb’s refund window closed. The host ignored our messages entirely and didn’t even refund the cleaning fee, which was insulting given that we had essentially done the cleaning ourselves. This property was blatantly misrepresented, poorly maintained, and handled with a concerning lack of professionalism. The combination of false advertising, unsanitary conditions, and dismissive communication creates significant distrust. I would strongly caution anyone considering this rental to look elsewhere.
