Overall the food tasted good, and I loved the shopping section.

This is a fun, unique place. The staff are very friendly, our waiter seemed a little clumsy in their delivery but nice. We had the goat cheese and the shrimp appetizers. Besides not having quite enough of their tasty bread for the goat cheese it was excellent. We had the code special and the chicken. We asked about the heat on the chicken and was told it was pretty mild. For one of our party it was, for a others it was super hot, and he has a high heat tolerance, so just know it's inconsistent. The chocolate tort is good too, very heavy but delicious. There are other things that we would like to try. We will be back.

If you’re in Phoenix, do yourself a favor and visit LATHA. This place was one of the highlights of our trip. The food was outstanding, the love music created an incredible atmosphere, and the entire experience celebrated the culture of the African diaspora. As a Black-owned restaurant, it delivers more than just a great meal—it delivers an experience. The staff was welcoming, the ambiance was vibrant, and every dish we tried was full of flavor. Whether you’re looking for a date night, a place to celebrate, or simply want to experience something different, LATHA is absolutely worth the visit. It’s the kind of restaurant you leave already planning your next trip back. Highly recommended!

Oxtail Barbacoa, Mac & Cheese, Ethiopian Mule 1 star was subtracted from the service because I can't absolutely ignore the long wait for our food to arrive. Although it was very busy with several large groups, including ours But when my dinner arrived, it took only one fork full of the Mac to silence the critic in me... My conversation grew silent as I focused on attacking my plate I tried to maintain my manners, twisting chunks of oxtail from the bone... but after a short while, who cares what you or anybody else thinks... I used my fingers to make sure that I twirled the bone attacking each sliver of meating remaining... I'm sure the video will be on National Geographic Meanwhile, Jonathan Levingston's Jazz Violin had the diners singing, dancing, and just falling in love...

Work trips usually come and go pretty quickly, but I have a tradition that never changes: before I look for the nearest chain restaurant, I look for a Black-owned business to support. This trip was no different. Just five minutes from my hotel, I found what I thought was going to be a great meal. What I didn’t expect was an experience. The moment I walked through the door, I knew this place was different. Before you even make it to your table, you’re welcomed into a charming boutique featuring handmade products, locally crafted goods, and specialty food items that invite you to slow down and take it all in. Then the food arrived. Every bite told a story. The flavors weren’t just bold, they were intentional. Layer after layer of seasoning, fresh ingredients, and soul came together in a way that reminded me that great food isn’t just cooked; it’s crafted. You could taste the pride, the tradition, and the love behind every dish. And then…dessert! Let’s just say I seriously considered how I could pack a few slices of that pound cake into my carry-on. I mentally packed and repacked my suitcase more than once before accepting the reality that there was absolutely no way that cake was going to survive the flight home. Moments like these are exactly why I make it a point to seek out local, Black-owned businesses whenever I travel. It’s never just about the meal, it’s about discovering stories, celebrating culture, investing in communities, and creating memories that last long after the trip is over. Some of the best experiences you’ll have while traveling aren’t listed in the tourist guides. Sometimes they’re just five minutes from your hotel, waiting for you to walk through the front door. Food and ambiance was immaculate, however our server Jasiri seemed very distracted and it derailed our experience, but the food was so good I can't go below a 4 star despite the 1 star service. Kudos to the chef!

Came here for Father's Day with my wife and baby and we will most certainly be back. The restaurant was busy but they were still able to accommodate us in a timely manner and check in with us consistently. The food... amazing! We had the chicken waffle dish and the steak & eggs and the flavors were unlike anything we've had before. I also recommend any of the spirit flights as they add a good ambiance to your meal. Thank you!!

I enjoyed the atmosphere, the vibe and the decor...they also had very strong misters that worked very well to cool down a very hot evening. I also appreciated the birthday gift given to my friend...who's name is now Abena

The atmosphere was okay and the ower was sweet. I was not going to write review but after what happened I have too. The food and service was absolutely horrible. The only great thing about the place was the violin player that kept a groove going. After we ordered our food it took over an hour to get our food, I had to ask for water to be brought to the table they never asked for our drinks, they brought warm water and never offered ice, they forgot to make half of our orders and me being the person who was being celebrated never got their food and when I did my Jollof rice was hard and crunchy ( which did not taste ANYTHING like Jollof what so ever), when the owner tasted the rice she agreed that it was not good and offered potatos instead and said she will not charge me for my meal because it was not made on time and was not good. Not only did they taste like instant potatoes, I find out the next day that my mother had to tell them they it was supposed to be comped but she ended up paying half price when we were told by the owner I was not going to be charged for my meal. It is very disorganized and disappointing. I try to support our people and again I loved the energy of the owner, but her staff is going to be the downfall of this place. The lady in the front was also very rude to my cousin and I and we caught her on my cousin video side eyeing us and rolling her eyes which makes me feel like this treatment was deliberate. The food didn't taste anything like it was advertised and WAYYYY to over priced for what we received. I have 2 stars for the atmosphere and the owners kindness. It had NOTHING to do with the food. Because if u know ur giving someone rice that's as hard as it was coming out the bag, u should not be serving it and trying to charge someone for it. She needs to fire the kitchen staff and the servers/that greeter and find people more professional that will uplift her business. Restaurants fail within the first five years of opening. They have been open for 3 years only. And with this type of service I'm concerned for their future.

Everything was cooked perfectly! Great flavors, portions large enough to split among friends, strong drinks, relaxing atmosphere, misting systems to cool the outdoor seating area. The vibe makes you wish they had a lounge with the exact same feel. Also, the staff were beyond welcoming... hard to explain but it feels like visit someone's grandma's house.
