My friend and I went to Tilden’s tonight and were told we needed to pay a $40 membership to get in. That wasn’t an issue, so I followed the instructions on their system. It already felt a bit off that it asked for my friend’s ID but not mine, but I completed the process anyway. When we got to the front, I had my ID ready, but when the staff scanned my membership, it pulled up someone else’s ID. At that point, I was confused and concerned because I had just paid $40 and clearly did not sign up under another person’s identity. Instead of helping resolve the issue, the staff member simply told me, “our system never fails,” and that I would need to pay another $40 to enter. No attempt to troubleshoot, no accountability, and no willingness to fix what was clearly a glitch especially since she witnessed the situation happening in real time, even as another person came through behind me. I explained that I had already paid, had my ID, and did not know the person shown in their system, but was met with the same response: “our system never fails.” As someone who runs a successful business, I cannot imagine dismissing a customer like that especially when they are clearly impacted by a system error. There was zero effort to provide a solution or even basic customer service. I’m now out $40 with nothing to show for it. Based on this experience alone, I would not recommend this place.
