About this place Deadbeats

Deadbeats is a horror-themed queer dive bar on Knight Street in Providence's West End, a residential neighbourhood west of downtown. It draws an alternative, goth-leaning crowd and hosts drag and themed performance nights alongside regular bar service, with a 4.8 rating from a modest number of Google reviews. It's a smaller, scruffier alternative to the downtown gay bars and clubs, and it suits people who prefer a dark dive to a dance floor. Deadbeats in Providence is definitely one of the more unique bars you’ll come across. The space leans heavily into an artsy, creative vibe—not just in its decor, but in the crowd it attracts. It feels more like a living art studio than a typical nightlife spot, with people sketching in notebooks, painting masks, and casually creating while they hang out. The atmosphere is lively and on the louder side, but it fits the energy of the place. There’s always something happening, so it’s hard to get bored just sitting and taking it all in. The crowd was welcoming and easygoing, which made it comfortable to settle in and enjoy the scene. As for the drinks, they were solid—nothing over-the-top, but perfectly good for the setting. Prices were reasonable, especially considering the character and experience you get. Overall, Deadbeats is less about the drinks and more about the vibe—if you’re looking for something different and creatively charged, it’s worth checking out.

If you like dive bars, 80's horror movies, old-school punk rock vibes, and good beer, you're going to love Deadbeats.
