About This Event
Holly Folly, Provincetown's gay holiday festival, has been running since 1997, courtesy of the Provincetown Business Guild, the same folks behind the town's Pride and Carnival. The Provincetown Chamber of Commerce claims it's the oldest and largest LGBTQ holiday celebration in the US. You'll get to see the town decked out in December finery, minus the summer hordes.
It kicks off the first weekend in December and runs on weekends for about three weeks. Expect to see the Lobster Pot Tree lit up in Lopes Square, and drag and cabaret shows at the Crown & Anchor. The Jingle Bell Run is another regular event - it had 196 participants in 2025, according to Rachael Brister from the guild. Commercial Street's galleries and shops will be open for holiday shopping. The guild partners with First Light, the town's New Year programme, to put on Holly Folly.
The 2026 kickoff weekend is set for 4 to 6 December, according to the Chamber of Commerce. You can find the full schedule on ptown.org. Before booking a guesthouse, make sure it's open - some close for the winter.
