When I drove up the door was open and it was dark at night. I reached my arm in to turn the lights on but didn’t feel safe to go in because they’d changed the door code a couple of times before I arrived. The place wreaked of urine or animal feces. I did not go inside but instead went back to my car and called for them to help with the situation. They told me the only thing I could do was go inside while on the phone with them, because they lived too far to come check the place out for me. There was no attendant available and I didn’t feel that was a very safe thing to do but I locked the door behind me to check the place out & make sure all was clear. I was alone and it was late at night. No bears or axe murderers! They didn’t have any other rooms available to offer me. I got roughly 4 hours of sleep because of the smell kept me tossing and turning. The next morning, the two cleaning ladies admitted to leaving the door unlocked for the other one and forgot to close it. They were both aware of the smell and stated they needed to go behind the building to see if there was an animal that got in underneath. Perhaps it was left open to air out the place. The room was tidy but had a horrid, strong animal smell. I was told that I could get half a refund back but when I called Vacasa customer service, they told me I’d get $54 refunded, which is less than half of what I paid for 1 night. A few minutes after the call, I received a text that said correction only $29 would be refunded instead. That was just wrong and upset me. I called back and after several transfers, spoke to the team leader and was able to get the $54 refund. It’s too bad the place was not so great because their customer service is right on top of things and decently easy to get a live person. But when they tell you one amount then text you and say oops sorry it’s actually less than what they’d already said on the phone… that is poor customer service! I’m satisfied get a $54 refund. Currently watching my bank to see if it comes through.

If you enjoy sleeping under a sheet that’s one centimeter thick, eating your microwaved food off a paper towel or having a nice shower of lukewarm water you should totally stay here

No complaints about the room. It was exceptionally clean and neatly furnished. Was quiet and restful. No ice available however. The only issue was the management company. Once you make reservations, you can expect to be bombarded by endless emails and text messages every single day, and even after you check out. They sent multiple key codes to unlock the room, and none of them worked. They do have a back up lock box for a physical key, but even that you spend several minutes twiddling with the door lock until you finally figure out how to manipulate it correctly. Great rooms, great location but maddening management.
