About this place William Land Park

William Land Park is a large public park in Sacramento's Land Park neighbourhood. It contains the Sacramento Zoo, Fairytale Town, a golf course and lots of open lawn. Cruising directories have long listed it as a low-key meeting spot for men, but it is first of all a busy family park. Any activity here is risky. Sex in public is illegal in California, and police patrol the park. Be discreet, avoid areas near playgrounds and attractions, and take the usual precautions after dark: stay where it is lit and carry little. Midtown's gay bars are a short drive north.

Went here for a walk and had such fun. There was a car show going on and we got to see over 100 cooly done retro vehicles. The park is well shaded so you can walk comfortably even in warmer weather. We had a great time and we didn't even see the Fairyland part or the Golf Course...an amazing location!

Took a ride out to Sacramento today if anything just to walk around and see what I could see. This park was my final stop (well really Whole Foods), and it pretty much put me over the top with the daily number steps I'm counting. I'm monitoring it on the Samsung Health app. Weather was awesome in the 60°s. Started out at the WPA Rock Garden which has a variety of plants and cactus. I don't know the names of all these things like my friend Daniel back in Hawaii does. He'd be able to rattle off everything quick. Does bonsai as well. For a guy so in tune with nature, it's hard to understand why he thinks the way he does about other things. Anyway, things look a little dry here but was still pretty colorful for this part of the year. Circled Duck Lake with its lotus garden. Saw a couple ladies with their young daughters pulling lotus out of the lake, and sort of using them as umbrellas. They seemed to be having fun, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. Then I pretty much circled the park and was on my way. It's nice that people in Sacramento have a place to come like this.

William Land Park is a Sacramento gem. We have been sheltering-in March 13th. We had to get out and WLP was a wonderful refuge. The flowers were in bloom, people were walking and practicing social distancing, kids were running and playing. About half adults were wearing masks??? There are picnic tables across the way but there was signage "Do Not Use" Dam this pandemic! I just live this park.

Remarkable foresight to save this huge property and park. A classic great city part, included open spaces, lots of green and trees and paths, softball fields, terrific 9 hole golf course, and a zoo. bustling withe neighborhood activities

This place has it all from the 11 acre zoo to FairyTale Town and many types of recreation. You would never know it was once a swamp. You can catch fish in one of the two ponds, feed the ducks or enjoy a game of base ball on one of the baseball fields. Most of all I have enjoyed playing gold many times on the 9 hole course with two of the Best Holes in the Sacramento area (the par 3 3rd and the par 5 8th hole). There is a carnival themed area with a small rollercoaster, train and merry-go-round. Great place to picnic on a warm summer day in Sacramento.

Took my grandkids to Land Park to play on the play structures. They loved feeding the ducks and chasing the squirrels. Street parking can be a challenge.

Daughter has moved to the area and places for kids to play are limited. This park is large and very accessible. The play areas are filled with playground equipment that all age children can enjoy. Lots of shade trees and benches for adults to watch the children play. Hubby played golf with our grandsons at the course in the park and said it was quite nice. Many other features of the park but we weren't able to visit, daughter said the Zoo is quite nice.

A great place to take in the Sacramento trees, water features, a local zoo and two children's amusement parks (Fairytale Town and Funderland). Whether you want to nap under a majestic tree canopy or meet up with friends for a picnic, this park offers plenty to enjoy.

This is a very large park across from the river. It can keep everyone busy all day. For the little ones there is Fairyland with rides and shows. For the older ones there is a great zoo, it's also for the little ones and you. A lake with ducks, playgrounds picnic areas sports fields, walking trails rose garden and more. If your lucky there will be some kind of fair or car show going on. Fun Fun Fun!!

We stayed in an Airbnb close by. Beautiful shaded park with lots of families on the weekend. We stumbled across a low rider club car show which was incredible. There is a small water park as well as FairyTale Town and the zoo. Great for walking, but watch crossing the windy streets. Felt very safe and family oriented.

Edit 1 year later: This is a huge/beautiful park. Stay away from this park. Find another one. The parking enforcement is out to get you. Our family decided to spend the day here. One side of the park was covered with no parking signs and law enforcement telling people not to park there. We went to another side of the park. There were zero signs. Was nervous, but it appeared safe. Couple of weeks later, we get a $112 parking ticket for "blocking a bike path." 🤷🤷🤷 I suggest finding a more friendly park.

We love this park but our regular spot where we usually just chill was occupied so went over behind the restroom. It was packed with homeless 😔. We left.

Always been a nice park, my Daughter is in her forties now and I had plenty of parties there for her. Things have been upgraded now and it's still a great park to have a picnic or celebration of sorts.

I've been coming to William Land Park for over 60 years. It is always a good experience. The trees are huge now! The zoo is a great place to visit my furry friends, and Fairytale Town and Funderland have always been fun. I've picnicked here many times, too. And I attended a great wine event here one summer...there are many events at this park.
