Black Garnet Books

Black Garnet Books opened in July 2020 as a bookshop centred on Black authors, founded by Dionne Sims. It's at 1319 University Ave W in the Midway, about a block from the Black Hart. In November 2024 it was sold to Terresa Moses, a University of Minnesota professor who describes herself as a proud Black queer woman, so it remains Black-, queer- and woman-owned. Opening hours have changed under the new owner, so check the shop's website or social media before making a special trip.
