The negative reviews are very confusing. The hotel has all the essentials a traveler needs to stay for a few days comfortably. Yes, the rooms are small but the rooms are meant to be slept in. Not host parties or large groups. The hotel is more than adequate with comfortable beds, bar downstairs, decent gym, and excellent service. Highly recommend for a solo traveler or a couple/pair. At this point some of the complaints/negative reviews are just plain silly. Heavy door? Get real. Refrigerator? Microwave? The 80s called and they want their appliances back. Those items in the rooms are liabilities and wast of space.

The bar staff are very warm and helpful. All the employees are friendly and fun with the guests, but the rooms don't have closets, and they don't offer services like laundry or ironing. There's no safe or minibar. It's only suitable for a couple of days.

Yes, the rooms are smallwr. If you have a lot of luggage, then maybe it’s not the room for you. We stayed here two nights and really enjoyed it. Some of the other Marriotts in the Gas Lamp area are better but this one has a unique charm. Also, don’t pay $70 to park across the street. Park at 6th and K parking garage. It’s much cheaper but it’s a 10 minute walk. Honestly, anything in the Gas Lamp or Little Italy, or near Sea Port Villlage are going to be great locations to stay.
