BOXCAR
Visitors frequently praise the attentive and friendly service, with specific mentions of staff like Rex, Shyan, Brie, Max, and Bianca. While many find the food good, particularly sandwiches, appetizers, and specific dishes like green chile stew, some note it's a sports bar and not fine dining. The venue can be very crowded and loud, though some found quieter seating options.

We hosted our wedding welcome party in the Music Room at BOXCAR, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our entire wedding weekend. We worked with Melissa, the event coordinator, and Demo, who is truly one of the nicest, most accommodating people you could hope to work with. I am someone who meticulously planned every detail of my wedding, but admittedly put the welcome party on the back burner. Because of that, I went in with pretty modest expectations and was completely blown away. The food was phenomenal. Weeks later, people are still talking about the food alone. The bar was run incredibly well — there was never a line, drinks came out quickly, and the bartenders and staff were so friendly and welcoming. The energy was high from the moment guests arrived, and it set the perfect tone for the entire weekend of celebrations. Everything felt very seamless. Demo and his team handled everything with professionalism and warmth, allowing us to actually enjoy the evening with our guests. After dealing with some communication issues and bar frustrations at our wedding reception at La Fonda — it only reinforced how exceptional the BOXCAR team really was. For any future brides (or anyone planning an event), I want to be transparent about pricing because I found reviews like that incredibly helpful when I was planning. We hosted nearly 120 people, served fantastic food, and essentially had an open bar for about 3 hours. We originally planned a limited drink menu, but guests were ordering full cocktails all night (somehow for $7/each — amazing deal — so we just went with it) and we never even hit our arranged bar limit on our tab. We also had access to their beautiful outdoor space and were never rushed out at the end of the evening. Our grand total came to around $4,200 (+ $500 for the private room) which honestly felt unbelievable. Maybe I’m just jaded by the wedding industry pricing, but I think the value we received was incredible. If you’re looking at BOXCAR and thinking that ~ it’s just a sports bar ~ let me tell you it’s so much more. Their catering is amazing, food is incredible, pricing is incredibly reasonable and the event space was wonderful! I would recommend this venue for wedding events, gatherings, rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, corporate gatherings, birthday celebrations — literally anything. They exceeded every expectation and helped create one of the most memorable nights of our wedding weekend. Thank you, Melissa, Demo, and the entire BOXCAR team. You knocked it out of the park!
Good sports bar. Food was okay. A bit expensive, but a nice place to watch a game.
This is basically the only real sports bar in Santa Fe.
The wings and deep fried pickles were typical and delicious. We needed a break from the New Mexican cuisine. Our bartender was friendly and hardworking. Great place to watch the World Cup.
